How to unlock the First Play Options achievement in Taiko no Tatsujin: The Drum Master! - Definitive Guide

Press A on any song

On the difficulty selection screen press Start for Options

Change something (I changed speed to 1.5) and press A to confirm

Now finish the song and the achievement should unlock.

This did not work for me?

Edit: This cannot be done with a speed below 2x. In my experience it had to be 2x or higher to pop the achievement!

It can. I did it with a changed instrument and 1.1x speed
