How to unlock the First Rainbow Crown achievement in Taiko no Tatsujin: The Drum Master! - Definitive Guide
To Earn a Rainbow crown you need a full combo of all Good ratings , no ok or bad.
First things first Calibrate your screen in the options. I used easy calibrate and my settings ended up being :
Adjust Music Note positions : +2
Adjust Music Note Recognition : -2
Then head to Game settings. Go to Configure level settings and change from standard to super simple. This stops almost all animations and makes it easier on your eyes when trying to perfect notes.
Next choose the easiest song and play on easy difficulty (Easiest song is called HOMURA from anime category)
You now have to hit 56/56 notes Good and not OK. This takes a little practice and timing.
Try time it that you push your button just after the red note has entered the inner circle. For the large notes time it that the face is dead center of the inner circle when pressing buttons and together. Practice , Practice , Practice. You will get it done.

+1 for Always With Me. I got it first try with this song (disclaimer: I've played a lot of rhythm games in the past). I think it's easier because the rhythm doesn't change throughout the whole song.
Also I didn't change any speed settings or calibration, since mine was already calibrated well for me and my TV.
Update: My best tips are:
1. The higher you can set the speed, the easier it is to hit the notes at the perfect time. You'll have a wider margin of error on the screen. If the notes are moving slow, the margin of error will be a very small horizontal distance. Just don't set it so fast that you don't have time to react once a note appears.
2. Take breaks. This one has the potential to be very frustrating and rage-inducing, which will work against you. Just try a couple times and play some other songs til another day. If you're going for the 100%, it's going to take you a MINIMUM of 30 days anyway, so no rush. Play more, get more experience, and try this again.
After completing every base song + a DLC pack on Easy, Medium, Hard, and some Expert, I'm now able to get rainbow crowns pretty often (on the easiest songs on Easy mode). (And I'm still 10,000 coins away from the 87,600 achievement. So getting the 100% could potentially take quite a bit longer than 30 days, ESPECIALLY if you don't purchase any DLC packs)

You get a Rainbow Crown by getting all Goods in a song.
The easiest song for me was HOMURA Easy in the Anime category.

Curiously what is note calibration? I have tried for a while but the timing still feels off. My first time playing Taiko but played a tons of Project Diva and Osu before.

Can confirm, something is very strange with the timing. I was doing way worse after calibrating, and there are times where I know for certain I've hit on beat but just get an OK.
I've DDR'd with a controller in the past and never had this issue before. Is the timing super strict or something?

I would like to add my guide for this one as this is really the only one that requires "skill" to complete for the 1000G on this game.
IMHO, "Always With Me" from "Spirited Away" in the Anime category is easiest for this. On easy difficulty, this song has no blue notes, so you can keep your finger on just A or X button. The song is not too fast but not too slow either. Homura has lower amount of notes but is a very slow song and timing can be tough to master on a slow song.
To save time for money/song grind later, you may want to put "Special - Perfect" so that if you miss a note, the song is failed immediately and you get +1 for songs and +10 for coins.
Here is my play where I get two OKs (I wanted to record rainbow crown run but video crapped out on me) which can hopefully give you good idea on timing.
Good luck!

I also used this song. I recommend using 2x speed for this song as it's a reasonable speed for it and I found the faster speeds tend to be a little more forgiving on the note detection for "Good" notes.

If I could thumbs up your solution, I would 1,000 times. Perfect song to stay on beat to and just enough speed to not be boring.

Now if you're like me, you found the timing on this game to be atrocious. I tried a bunch of different songs and even went to PC because the input delay is better there. It didn't work.
The song that Sangriaz suggested "Always with me" is a perfect song for this achievement. If you were to write this out on music paper, every time you have to hit the drum... it will fall on a quarter note. You don't get punished for pressing the red drum button (for me it was ) when there's no note there.
Knowing these two things, what I did is instead of tapping my foot to this song, I just kept pressing every quarter note. Keeping the beat with the button helped me a lot. You will have to make slight adjustments because odds are you won't be exact in beat with the song but if you keep the rhythm, you'll be hitting the drum as the note is in the circle already.
Note it did still take me a couple tries this way but I thought I'd share a different way of going about this achievement for those who have tried everything.

I played HOMURA on 2.5x speed on easy. For some reason the speed boost made it easier to get them all perfect. Thought that may help someone else if you're having trouble and havent tried this yet.
The easiest method is the difficulty setting for every song and the star level. The key is determining what songs will require the fewest number of notes to get all good and earn the rainbow crown, and also adjusting the speed settings to suit your style of play. For me I discovered Always With Me had just 76 notes. Got all good in the playthrough on Easy, no adjustments in speed necessary. Easily the most challenging achievement of the game, but all the more rewarding at the same time.
Update: I have since also earned the Rainbow on Always With Me on Normal. Not even five minutes after this initial post.
