How to unlock the Blurb herder achievement in Tails Noir - Definitive Guide

Preface: This achievement is incredibly buggy and unreliable. No one really knows what causes it, but it's assumed to be something with the cloud saves carrying over bits of previous choices.
If you need a workaround there's no guaranteed method, but there are a few possible things you can try in the comment section. I managed to get this on my first full playthrough despite a few new game starts and reloads. Make sure if you quit out to retry a section to re-click the needed areas.

This is a cumulative achievement across an entire playthrough.

You must collect every piece of book information in each chapter from shelves and npcs. It *should* unlock when you are in the container after the experimentation cutscene.
Be absolutely certain to check each spot multiple times until you exhaust all dialog!!

The locations are

Act 1
1. Howard's bathroom Go all the way left in apartment - (3 books - Exhaust Dialog)

Act 2
1.Bookstore in Gastown - 6 Books -Ask about the area and then pick "not spicy enough for me", Ask about Renee's Book, The book on Apes (Tell him you lost yours to a fire and need another), ask for recommendations and then say you're the expert/what are you reading - he will then tell you about two other books - buy one. Ask about the lockpicking book.
2. Bookshelves in the Minister’s Office (Two - one on each side of room)
3. Book when searching Minister's Desk. (Read the Blurb!) Remember to sniff the desk first if going for Smell-o-Vision
4. 5th floor of the West End apartment building - (Bookshelf on wall in hallway)
5. Flower book in Florence’s apartment (Read about all of the flowers before closing the book)

Act 4
1. Belle’s book in the container (Shows up on desk after a few scenes - Read every page and pocket blank page)

Thats bad The 1vanator, I dont know whats the problem, but I'll post here where I get this solution, maybe I didnt speak exactly the steps, remeber that this solutions were originally for the same type pf problem on another game (halo collection), credits to rafa1000house & netstryker

1) Pause the game and choose "Save/Quit". Keep pressing cn_B until the main menu of Halo: TMCC appears and finally close the game from the dashboard:
Press cn_guide, select the game, press cn_start and choose "QUIT". You'll return to main screen of console dashboard.

2) With game totally closed, delete your local save (just the local save, NEVER CHOOSE "Delete everywhere"):
Select the game, press cn_start and select the option "Manage game & add-ons". Go to "Saved data", on the right side, choose your save (it will have your gamerpicture and gamertag). With your save selected, press cn_A and choose the option "Delete from console", just the local save will be deleted.

3) Go back to main screen of console dashboard pressing cn_B. From here, you must became offline:
Press cn_guide, go to "Settings" » "General" » "Network settings" and choose "Go offline".

4) Play offline again until you complete the achievement requirements exactly as it was explained above in "THE ACHIEVEMENT:".

5) After the cutscene, you land on the corvette’s deck and you regain the control, pause the game, choose "Save/Quit", go to Halo: TMCC main menu and quit the game from the dashboard.

6) Repeat the step "2)", deleting your local save again.

7) Now, repeat the step "3)", but this time you must select "Go online".

If you done everything right, the achievement must unlock when you are online, still on the dashboard. If this doesn't happen, just start the game normally, wait until the game loads the main menu. Press cn_start on main menu and wait a couple minutes. During the wait process, you can play any mission solo or any kind of multiplayer game, just keep the game running while you wait.

Can you elaborate on the bookstore? I followed the guide but it didn't unlock. The bookstore is the only variable I'm uncertain about. Is it possible to pick a wrong dialogue option there? Because there is no book to read in the store, just an NPC to talk to.

Ask about the Apes, then ask for recommendations and ask what he's been reading. he'll mention 3 books - Love is in the Air, kill me if you can, and a book on lockpicking. Ask how to pick a lock. Buy one of the books (doesnt matter), then you must also have learned that Renee has a book through dialog with her and ask all questions about it.

Not at all sure. I followed this guide on the computer a while back but have yet to finish my xbox playthrough. Will run it soon and see if I can pinpoint the issue

I tried 10x times deleting my save from the cloud, deleting the game and redownloading, tried in another profile...all withouth getting this cheevo

I dont understand why this glitched on me...

I tried everything Hellwyrm said in his comment but still, I wasn’t able to get the achievement. I think I’ve beaten the game like 20x at this point.

@Tozi - thanks for the feedback. Glad to know I am not just losing my mind and there's some unknown issue glitching this for random people. I'll see if I can hit up the dev team to look into the unlock requirements

Thanks to HellWyrm I got this achievement. The key is to play OFFLINE. Make sure your Xbox is set to "My Home Xbox" in Settings, Personalization. This way you can play GamePass games Offline. This achievement refused to unlock for me playing online even after 8 attempts. I deleted ALL saves (local and cloud) and started a fresh game OFFLINE, followed the wonderful guide by Doomedtolive, quit the game after getting the last book in the container, went back online, started the game and the achievement popped as the game started up.

@Car56. I’ve tried nearly every solution possible. I usually give it a go once every few weeks. I even played through the game on a different Xbox and I still haven’t unlocked this achievement. I’ve played thru the game dozens of times. Extremely frustrating.

hey guys after many playthroughs i did the offline method and it worked. but i also think i found one extra book. when buying a book from the book shop keeper i kept asking about books and convinced him to give me his copy of the apes book. i don't know if this was what triggered it or the offline method.

I’m seeing people unlocking this achievement regularly. How. What guide are they following? I like other people above in these comments have tried this many many times but to no avail. Has anyone unlocked it at a different time than Act 4 so that maybe it’s cumulative?

With a lot of luck and trying and retrying time and again, deletting data, alternating xbox accounts and reinstalling the game, playing offline, etc. Some people unlock it with 0 effort and some like me have to try so many things until somehow you unlock it but you tried so many things that you don't even know how.

This achievement should be flagged Buggy+... its a pain in the ass.

Just unlocked it, I can't explain why since I did the exact same things I did before, I just played an other game for two or three days. It unlocked on my first retry, online, i didn't delete data nor reinstalled the game. I guess it's just luck (I tried 10-15 time total).

"ThisIsPrfct" if it was labeled Buggy+ it would mean the achievement unlocks before requirements are meant. Buggy- means the achievement may not unlock at all after requirements are met.

For what it's worth, I did not need to purchase the propaganda book to unlock this achievement.

Did everyone who had a problem with this achievement attempt to use the guide on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYXpjCopjN0)? My friend tried every method including following the first 2 hours and 20 minutes of the video. I played the game on his account after deleting the save of his game everywhere and it popped first try (he didn't do this step).

I appreciate your response. I've done that, though, and it still isn't unlocking for me.

* In Howard's Bathroom, you can interact with the books three times.
** I've done what you said in the bookstore. You can ask three questions about Renee, buy and learn about the ape book, learn about the three other books and buy one of the two.
*** There are two bookshelves in the minister's office that you can interact with one time each.
**** In the 5th floor apartment there is a book you can interact with one time.
***** In Florence's apartment, when I read the book it gives me three flowers to learn about. But I believe her password lists four flowers. Am I missing something here that's messing me up?
****** Finally, in the container, I've read all three parts of the book and made sure to pick the read/look at options.

So unless I am missing something in the flower book, I don't know what else I'm missing. I even completely restarted my console and re-installed the game trying to get this to work.

I’ve done everything listed as well. I followed everything Kefka did and I didn’t get the achievement. I deleted my cloud save and went through the entire game again and nothing. Has anyone figured out what might be missing?

Ok, I was not able to get it by any means, but I eventually gotcha with this steps:
1. Delete all yours saves from everywhere (cloud & console)
2. Go to settings and choose to go off-line
3. Replay the game doing all the steps listed for the achievement, you need to get a in-game save after you done all the steps
4. Quit the game and goes online, launch the game and the achievement notification should ping during the beggining when the new game option appears

PTBR: Consegui libera-la depois de umas 20 tentativas, estava quase desistindo, era a ultima conquista que faltava, o que eu fiz foi: apaguei todos os dados e reinstalei o game, apos isso, abri e joguei normalmente passando por todos os livros, com o porem de que eu joguei o jogo tranquilamente, como se fosse a primeira vez, nao pulei cut cenes, nao flodei o A em nenhum dialogo, usei todas as interaçoes possiveis antes de passar por cada ato, e funcionou! Acho que realmente, o jogo deve ter algumna trava para quem quer ir flodando e rushando até chegar no final. Fiz dessa maneira, pois achei um cara no Reddit dizendo para a jogar dessa maneira, e deu certo.

US: I managed to release it after about 20 attempts, I was almost giving up, it was the last achievement left, what I did was: I deleted all the data and reinstalled the game, after that, I opened it and played normally, going through all the books, with However, I played the game calmly, as if it were the first time, I didn't skip cut scenes,
I didn't use A in any dialogue, I used all possible interactions before going through each act, and it worked! I really think the game should have some lock for those who want to keep floating and rushing until they reach the end. I did it this way, because I found a guy on Reddit saying to play it this way, and it worked.

Location of all books:
  • In Howard's apartment, at the very beginning of the game we go to the toilet. There will be books above the toilet that you just need to examine (Act 1).
  • In Gastown, at the bookstore you need to talk to the owner about all the books. To do this, simply use all available dialogue options with him (Act 2).
  • When we break into the minister’s apartment, there will be bookcases in his office in the background. Books on them can be studied in two places - at the beginning and at the end of the room (Act 2).
  • In the same location, when we search the minister’s desk, we will find a book. When examining it, be sure to select the “read the annotation” option (Act 2).
  • In the West End, when we get to Beverly's house, on the fifth floor, before reaching her apartment, there will be a shelf with books that needs to be examined (Act 2).
  • When we get into Florence's apartment, to the left of the sofa on which she sits there will be a shelf with books. You can take a book about flowers from it (this must be done according to the plot in order to gain access to Rose’s computer). In this book you need to read everything about all the flowers (Act 2).
  • When Howard is imprisoned, after a certain time a stack of books will appear on the table in his container. We approach it, interact and select the “read annotation” option (Act 4).

The trophy should drop immediately after reading the book summary in Act 4.

Glitchy trophy. If after the first playthrough the trophy does not drop, you need to delete all saves and go through the game slowly, and not mindlessly skip dialogues to the button , with pauses.

After replaying it many times, I still got this trophy. After an unsuccessful attempt (quick passage, skipped cutscenes and dialogues) without deleting the save, I replayed it again quickly.
