To recruit the Master-at-Arms, you will need to find the Armed Wanderer NPC in the Wyrd, twice. On the second encounter, ask him what he needs and he will tell you to break his friend out of prison. You are looking for a building called Cursed Broch. When you find it, interact with it and choose "Free a Prisoner", it may be the Master-At-Arms, or a combat encounter. You can fight as many times as it takes to free him, as it is random which outcome happens. After you free him, invite him to your village and unlock the achievement.

I'm having a hard time unlocking this and I'm wondering if it's bugged. I keep running into the freed prisoner and he offers me training in the Wyrd, but there's never an option to invite him into the village.
I'm assuming since I'm seeing him that I already completed the Cursed Broch side quest, but I can't remember.

I died the first time I found the broch on the first fight as I hadn't leveled at all and it took me another 9 runs before I found it again. It seems to be an extremely rare encounter so if you find it make sure you are leveled before attempting. Took 4 fights at the broch to finally get him.
