How to unlock the Diligent Counterattacker achievement in Tales of Arise - Definitive Guide
Press RT to roll before attacks hit you (you start glowing blue) then press RB to do a “counter edge” (counter attack). Can quickly be farmed in Alphen Basic Training (in Viscint, Region Menancia). Buying skills that make dodging easier also help with this.
All in all, this achievement should be easily achieved over time.

Counter Edge’s are performed by pulling off a perfect dodge with R2 (you will know you have done this when the screen slows and you briefly glow white and blue) and immediately pressing R1 to perform a counter-attack with extra damage.
If you are having trouble with these, some skills widen the time you have to pull off a perfect dodge and the follow-up attack, so save your skill points up for those.

If you perfect dodge an enemy attack you can press to counter them, you can also unlock a skill later in the game for each character that will let you do a Counter Edge after an enemy is defeated.
This achievement is for successfully counter-attacking, which usually happens after a perfectly timed dodge. As an enemy attacks you, you'll want to dodge out of the way () and if you see a blue flash around your character and the battle speed slows down, you know you dodged properly. You will want to attack the enemy with your basic attack () while the speed is still in slo-mo to get credit toward this achievement. One of the enemies in the training ground is ideal for this. See the video below for an example.
Alphen has a skill he can unlock to make the timing window on the dodge easier, as well as another skill that can create counter edge opportunities after defeating an enemy, chaining the attack to a new enemy. Most of mine came from the second method.

Kisara does this most often, so have her in the party when possible.
