How to unlock the Witness to the Mystic achievement in Tales of Berseria - Definitive Guide
If you are having issues with Magilou third Mystic Arte, you can solve it using a Mystic Arte chain putting Magilou as a backup character in the 4th slot, that way she will be the fifth one to hit the enemy with her art (The Host of Forty-Nine), this worked for me after spending several hours trying to trigger the art after Tetra Detonator.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.
For this trophy, you have to view EVERY single Mystic Arte from both enemies and all of your party members. While you have the whole game to do the Mystic Artes with your party members, you only have one chance to see the Mystic Arte for each boss . Once you have finished their battles and missed the chance to see their Mystic Arte, you have to try again on another playthrough.
Fortunately, you do not have to see all Mystic Arte within a single playthrough, so any Mystic Arte you have already seen will be counted automatically as seen when you start with New Game+. There is no in game checklist for this trophy, so you have to take notes yourself on the Mystic Artes you have already seen/are missing.
For your party members, each has 3 of their own unique Mystic Artes. There are a total of three Dual Mystic Artes (Velvet/Lapichet, Magilou/Eleanor, Eizen/Rokurou). None of them are missable and can be done at any time. You do NOT have to be controlling the character for the Mystic Arte to count towards the total, seeing done in a battle is enough.
Here's a list of all main story bosses that have Mystic Artes:
- Artorius (he automatically uses this, so it cannot be missed)
- Shigure
- Teresa
- Oscar
- Aifread
- Shigure. ***Caution:*** There are two variations of the Mystic Arte, one with Rokurou in the party and one when he is not in the active party. Both must be seen for the trophy.
- Melchior
- Artorius (Last Dungeon)
- Innominat
- Armatized Artorius
You also MUST see all Mystic Artes from the optional bosses in the game to complete this trophy. The optional bosses with Mystic Artes are:
- Phoenix. ***Caution:*** This boss has two Mystic Artes, one of which is a highly missable Mystic Arte. The regular Mystic Arte that he uses in battle is easy to see, but his secondary Mystic Arte can be a bit trickier. He will only use it when his HP drops to 0. When this happens, he will use a Mystic Arte to revive himself. However, this is completely random. It's recommended to make a save before fighing the Phoenix if you don't want to start a new playthrough to see his second Mystic Arte.
- Dark Turtlez. ***Caution:*** Another boss with two Mystic Artes! On is a regular attack Mystic Arte, the other he will use if you use an item during the battle.
- Zaveid
- Jude
- Milla
- Jude & Milla. They perform a dual Mystic Arte, so both of them MUST be alive in order to see this.

**TIP** To complete Rokouro's Mystic Arts you must understand how his Break Souls work. Two of his Break Souls activate on their own. Vengeful Stance is activated by holding the break soul key or RT. If you are hit within 1 second of using Vengeful Stance, Vengeful Punishment will automatically activate and you will teleport behind an enemy and land an attack. Vengeful Scourge will also automatically activate if you continue a combo without getting hit right after activating Vengeful Punishment. Once Vengeful Scourge activates hold the break soul key or RT to activate Rokouro's last break Soul Vengeful Retribution where you will be able to activate the Mystic Art.

Missable!
View every single Mystic Arte from both enemies and allies to earn this trophy. While you can pull off your party members' Mystic Artes at any time, you only have one chance for the enemies as once you have finished their battles and missed to see their Mystic Arte, you have to try again on another playthrough to see it. Fortunately, you do not have to see all Mystic Arte within a single playthrough, so any Mystic Arte you already saw will count as seen when you start a new playthrough with New Game+. There is no ingame checklist for this trophy, so you have to note down yourself which you have seen already.
There have been reports where all Mystic Artes have to be seen on a single save file or else the trophy will not unlock. So when you do a New Game+, make sure you keep playing on the same save file as your first playthrough if you have not got this trophy yet.
Mystic Artes from Enemies
Like in the previous Tales game, regular enemies do not have a Mystic Arte, so it is only relevant in boss fights. You will know when bosses start having Mystic Artes as the first one you will see is story-related and cannot be missed. Not every boss afterwards has a Mystic Arte. Even when you play on Normal difficulty, chances are that they will use their Mystic Arte at least once, even more especially on higher difficulties. So they are not highly missable. As a general rule of thumb, they start using them when they have about 50% of their HP left.
Mystic Artes from Story-Related Bosses
All bosses have only one Mystic Arte except for one boss, for which Rokurou has either to be in the active party or in the reserves. This is the boss fight in the volcano. See the spoiler for a list of the story-related bosses:
- The Empyrean's Throne: Artorius (cannot be missed; Artorius will end the battle with the Mystic Arte)
- Port Cadnix: Shigure (the automatic Mystic Arte that ends the battle does not count for this; he has to use the Mystic Arte in the battle)
- Baird Marsh: Teresa
- Baird Marsh: Oscar
- Baird Marsh: Aifread
- Mount Killaraus: Shigure. Caution: There are two variations of the Mystic Arte, one with Rokurou in the party and one with Rokurou in the reserves. See them both.
- Mount Killaraus: Melchior
- Last Dungeon: Artorius
- Last Dungeon: Innominat
- Last Dungeon: Armatized Artorius
Mystic Artes from Bosses from Side Quests
There are also bosses in side quests and of course you have to see their Mystic Artes as well for this trophy.
- Titania: Phoenix. See Dawn of Darkness for the side quest details. Caution: This boss has two Mystic Artes, one of which is a highly missable Mystic Arte. One he uses regularly in battle and another one he uses when his HP drops to 0 to revive himself. It may happen that he does not revive himself at the end of the battle. In this case, you will miss the Mystic Arte and have to retry again in a new playthrough, so reload the save you made earlier. If you are playing on a higher difficulty, it is likelier that he uses the Mystic Arte to revive himself, but it is still a chance that he uses it.
- Katz Korner: Dark Turtlez. See Dawn of Darkness for the side quest details. Caution: This boss has two Mystic Artes. One regular and one he uses after you use an item in the battle.
- Gaiburk Ice Field: Zaveid. See A Promise Made for the side quest details.
- Yseult: Jude. See Striding Beyond the End for the side quest details.
- Figahl Icecaps: Milla. See Striding Beyond the End for the side quest details.
- Normin Island: Jude&Milla. They have a dual Mystic Arte in this battle, so make sure you see it before you kill either of them. See Striding Beyond the End for the side quest details.
Mystic Artes from Party Members
Each party member has three Mystic Artes and there are three special Dual Mystic Artes. None of them is missable. You will unlock the first level of Mystic Artes over the course of the story. The second level of Mystic Artes will be learned by a regular level up, when the characters are about level 35. The third level of Mystic Artes are not so easy to obtain and are covered in a separate section below. The three special Dual Mystic Artes are all obtained in the bonus dungeon, by defeating the bosses on floor 2, 4, and 6.
If a character controlled by the CPU triggers a Mystic Arte, it will count for this trophy.
To perform the various Mystic Artes, there are different triggering conditions:
- To use the level 1 Mystic Arte, attack an enemy and hold during the attack animation. 3 BG will be consumed. The level 1 Mystic Arte has a small cut-in of the character who uses the Mystic Arte.
- To use the level 2 Mystic Arte, chain at least 8 artes (either regular artes or break souls with ), then hold during performing the last arte you use. 4 BG will be consumed. The level 2 Mystic Arte has a bigger cut-in than the level 1 Mystic Arte, but not the whole screen.
- To use the level 3 Mystic Arte, perform the final Soul Break arte of a character, then hold during the animation. 5 BG will be consumed. The level 3 Mystic Arte is a cut-in that uses the whole screen.
- To use the Dual Mystic Arte, both characters need to have 5 BG. One character has to be in the active party, the other in the reserves. The possible combinations are Velvet & Laphicet, Rokurou & Eizen, and Magilou & Eleanor. To use you need to press or (depending on where your reserve character is) as if you would use a Switch Blast, then hold , but before the actual Switch Blast is triggered. Use it when your character is currently doing an attack. Then the Switch Blast will be on standby. Now hold until the Dual Mystic Arte is triggered.
For the level 3 Mystic Arte, depending on the character, the final Soul Break arte can be hard to trigger and the CPU almost never uses them. The hard characters are Velvet, Rokurou, and Magilou. Fortunately, there is still an easy way to trigger their Mystic Arte without bothering to check the Soul Break arte triggering conditions. Use the Mystic Arte Chain that is explained in the description of the Centurion trophy.
Unlocking the Third Mystic Artes
You can find the necessary items to unlock the third Mystic Arte in the last dungeon. For this, you will need to collect special coloured orbs and set them into the same coloured portals. Then you can warp to a small area where you have to fight a boss. Defeating this boss will unlock one of the items for one character.
For the description of how to find the orbs and portals, I have used the labeling of Outer Area and Inner Area. The Outer Area's surrounding is coloured in blue, while the Inner Area's surrounding is coloured in violet. You will know what I mean when you play through the dungeon.
Outer Area Hub – The area you reach after using the initial warp point after entering the dungeon. This hub has two warp points in the middle, the first one you came from and the second one to reach the Inner Area. Then you have five more warp points: Two at the top section, two at the bottom section and a fifth one at the northwest.
Colours of the orbs and portals:
Red – Laphicet
Yellow - Eizen
Blue - Eleanor
Green - Rokurou
White – Magilou
Violet - Velvet
Yellow Orb – In the Outer Area Hub, use the left warp point in the top section. Head to the right and jump over small platforms three times. Use the warp point that is below and you will end up at a dead-end with a treasure chest and this orb.
Red Orb – In the Outer Area Hub, use the left warp point in the lower section. Head to the south-east warp point by walking up the platforms in front of you, but do not use it. The orb is located at the dead-end in front of you when the warp point is located to the left side.
Green Portal – In the Outer Area Hub, use the right warp point in the lower section. Then walk to the south-west area, jumping over a small platform two times. Alternatively, use the left warp point in the lower section and then head to the south-east warp point by walking up the platforms in front of you. Use this warp point when you reach and then walk straight ahead.
Red Portal – Located in the Inner Area. From the Spiral part heading further inside, follow the way until you are back in the Inner Area. Walk over the two green bridges and use the door to the left. Follow the way to reach the area with this portal to the north.
White Orb – The geoboard is needed to reach this orb. From the Spiral part of the Inner Area heading further inside, follow the way until you are back in the Inner Area. Walk over the two green bridges and use the warp point to the right. Then use the first door straight ahead to reach the area with the orb. If the warp point is not available, use the door to the left. Follow the way to reach an area with a portal. Take the door to the south and follow the way to reach the Inner Area again. Do not cross the yellow bridge, but instead use the door to your left to reach the area with the orb. The orb is located to the north by jumping over with the geoboard.
Yellow Portal – The geoboard is needed to reach this portal. In the Outer Area Hub, use the single warp point that is not on a separate section. Then use the warp point north-west to reach the part with the portal. If you have not unlocked the warp point from the hub yet, use the left warp point in the lower section. Walk up one platform and then use the geoboard on your right to reach the next platform. Follow the way and use the warp point to the north. Use the warp point to the north west to reach the part with the portal.
Blue Portal - The geoboard is needed to reach this portal. The portal is located on the right side after walking through the door from the Spiral part of the Inner Area heading further inside.
Green Orb – Go to the part of the Inner Area with the yellow bridge. There is a hole in the ground located at the south-west of this area after crossing the yellow bridge. Jump through this hole and the orb is located right next to you.
Inoph Bottle ∞ - Not needed for this trophy, but useful in general. Go to the part of the Inner Area with the yellow bridge. There is a hole in the ground located at the south-west of this area after crossing the yellow bridge. Jump through this hole and through another hole after following the way. The Bottle is inside a treasure chest on the way to the third hole.
White Portal – Go to the part of the Inner Area with the yellow bridge and cross the violet bridge at the south-east to reach the door that heads further inside. Follow the way and you will reach the area with the portal in the south.
Violet Portal – From the area with the White Portal, take the door to the east and follow the way. You will need the geoboard as you will have to jump with it two times.
Blue Orb – From the area with the White Portal, take the door to the west and follow the way until you are back inside the Inner Area. The orb is located on the right side on the section in the north with the door and the warp point. You will have to destroy the red crystal in this area on the east side first to be able to reach this section.
Violet Orb - From the area with the White Portal, take the door to the west and follow the way until you are back inside the Inner Area. Walk through the door that is located on the section in the north. Afterwards, you will find the orb on the right side after jumping on the platform.
To prevent the characters from spending SALT themselves, in the Techniques menu we disable the automatic use of mystic arts. Touchpad-Tricks-R2. We point at the techniques with check marks and press square.
Firstly, it does not work on the L2+dad chain towards the next character. So you can only do the third mystic art for 5 and 6 characters depending on who you put in that queue. Also, for the 3rd mystic art, it is advisable to raise the SALT value to 8-9 by strengthening things, choosing a title, and wearing the Nameless Ring with the parameter “-1 Soul Split”.
The third mystic art for each character is unlocked separately in the last location before the final battle. There you find 6 spheres and insert them into 6 monoliths located there. You get to 6 bosses, each of which opens 1 soul split and 1 mystic art.
Secondly, joint mystic art is performed only during character changes. To do this you need:
For example Velvet + Laficet. We put it at the end of the menu line, and Velvet in first place. Then during the battle he will be under her if you place the additional characters on the left with the cross (under and above Velvet). Next, during the battle, hold down R2 and carry out several attacks. After 3-4 hits, without releasing R2 and without stopping striking, press the cross down to change Velvet to Laficet. And only when the word “Waiting” appears on the Velvet icon, without releasing R2 and continuing to press the attack button (for example X), hold down L2.
Also Rokuro + Aizen and Majila + Eleanor.
The enemies you need to watch are super attacks: Shigure's brother Rokuro in the port, Teresa, Oscar and Aifred in their home village, Shigure and Melchior at Vulcan, Artorius and Nameless at the end of the game, as well as Phoenix in the side quest after collecting everyone dolls for Edna (the phoenix has 2 super hits), for Zaveid, for the Dark Skull (2 super hits, he uses one after you use the item) for Jude, for Milla and for Jude and Milla.
Story mystic arts
1-Shigura in this battle, in any case, uses mystic art.
2-Teresa take down half of the HP and she will periodically make mystic art.
3-Oscar The same as with Teresa, the battle with Oscar will happen after the battle with Teresa.
4-Ifred will also destroy half of the HP, after which he will periodically perform mystic art.
5-We saw Shigure’s first mystic art, but a second one appeared to activate it, during the execution of Shigure’s mystic art, Rokuro must be the first to participate in the battle (in the mystic itself he will repel the attack).
6-Melfiore (to be honest, I don’t remember what the old man’s name is at the end of the dungeon, the same condition as Oscar, Teresa and Aifred).
7-Arthur normal condition with half HP
8-Nameless in battle at the same time as Arthur is the usual activation condition.
9-Arthur+Nameless in fusion, normal activation condition.
SIDE QUESTS
Zaveid uses mystic art normally.
After collecting all the Normin dolls, you will be sent to a meeting in Titania.
Phoenix has 2 mystic art. 1 is used in normal conditions with HP, but the second one needs to be killed and he must be resurrected, all this looks like mystic art. So before the battle with him, make a quick save, quickly kill him, if he used resurrection at death, then wait for 2 mystics with HP, but if he didn’t do it, then reboot.
BLACK BURTLE, to activate you need to open the cotegrad. it opens at the opening of the next catbox, you will be given something like a ticket and at a certain point in the game you will have a task to visit the cattown, but that’s not all you need to find the turtle itself and talk to him in different locations at the end you will talk to the cat who He will inform you that the little turtles in Kotegrad are flying towards him.
The boss himself has 2 mystic arts from the very beginning, use any item and he will use his mystic art, and use the second one in the usual manner.
Jude (Tales of xillia) the boss uses mystic art in the usual way (if you miss it, it’s not scary, you can see it again a little ahead.
Milla (Tales of xillia) uses in the usual manner just like Jude, if you miss it you can get it a little later.
Jude and Milla in this battle you can get mystic art for each of these characters, and you also definitely need to see their team mystic art. To do this, both Jude and Millet need to destroy half of their HP.
MYSTIC CHARACTER ART CONDITIONS AND SIMPLE TACTICS OBTAINING IF IT DOESN'T WORK.
