How to unlock the Nostalgia is Overrated achievement in Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide

After you have gathered the four spirits and have seen the events in Capua Nor, you can get a scene when you enter Estelle's room in Zaphias. Her room is on the west side of the castle's second floor. After seeing that scene, head to the last area in Zaude. There will be a scene where Rita uses a panel to unlock the Necropolis of Nostalgia.

The dungeon has six sections with eleven floors each. You can only do the first two sections before you clear the game. After obtaining a cleared game file, you can access to the last four sections. Defeat the boss at the very end to earn this achievement.

I want to point out that if you're looking to get every save point, it's important to make sure you slog through every floor of this dungeon, because there is always a save point every 2-3 floors. The problem is that some exit points will skip you past many floors. On sections 1-5, you can take the farthest exit to avoid skipping floors. In other words, if you see two exits, go to the one that takes more moves to get to.

Section 6 (Abysm) is a maze of warps that go all over the place, and I have a solution for you to get to the end and get all the save points.

Section 6: Abysm Guide + All save points
Floor 1: Go left to reach floor 4
Floor 4: Go left to reach floor 2
Floor 2: Go down to reach floor 8
Floor 8: Go right to reach floor 10
Floor 10: Go up to reach floor 9, which has a save point
Floor 9: Go up to reach floor 3, which also has a save point
Floor 3: Go up to reach floor 8
Floor 8: Go right to reach floor 10 again
Floor 10: Go right to reach floor 6, which has a save point
Floor 6: Go down to reach the end

The final boss is quite difficult, by the way. You need to kill the central head, which only becomes vulnerable when all the other body parts have died. The head will then quickly revive its parts, leaving you a disappointingly small window of attack. My strategy was to overlimit Rita and have her spam meteors to do huge AOE damage and kill all parts at the same time. These AOE spells will not hit the central head, though. So once all the boss parts have died (could take a while) I switched to Yuri and spammed destruction field in overlimit. No sense trying to do a big combo because the central head isn't up long enough, you just want to pump out the fastest damage possible. I used every item I could, constantly using specifics, treats, limit bottles, even hourglass when the central head was down. Go all out here. This is the hardest boss in the game. This is what you saved all your items for, right?

Good luck!

Quick question do you have to do this on a clear game save file or just have a clear game save file?

@FpsGoku420 You have to do it on a clear game save file. On a non-cleared game, you can start the dungeon, but like TheBigBB said, you’ll only be able to complete the first 2 parts. Once you beat the game and load the cleared game save file, you can then complete the final four parts. Again, to clarify, you have to be playing on the cleared game save file, as just having it won’t do anything.

On the final boss.. I seemed to be doing 1 damage with everyone. Just on this boss. I unequipped my (unlocked) Fel Arms and put on the weapons I got from HERE. I was then doing more than a few thousand a hit. Dunno if that was the exact reason, but definitely solved my problem at least.

To clarify one point, you CAN hit the central head whenever you want (even with all other body parts alive) but it's just difficult. I used Repede and spammed Shining Fang which would have him rolling up the front of the enemy, hitting the body and heads. You'll only do minor damage to the central head, but it helps, and you'll do damage to the body which brings it down to the ground and allows for better output from Yuri, like you suggested.

This is a new optional end-game dungeon in this version of the game, often referred to as the "Telescopic Graveyard" based on the PS3 version. You can access two of the six floors after getting the four spirits during the story, but don't bother with it at that point unless you want to grab the Fell Arm weapons for Patty and Flynn on those two floors. All six floors will be available after beating the main story. Again, follow kouli's side-quest guide to unlock the dungeon (though the events for this one can't be missed, unlike the EX Dungeon). I would suggest waiting until your speed run / max level playthrough to do this. Even at Level 200 and on Easy difficulty, the final boss is quite tough. It took me about 15 minutes to kill it.

As for tackling the dungeon itself, it is more straightforward than the EX Dungeon. Sort of. There are no special requirements to complete it aside from traversing the many rooms and floors. Be sure to explore thoroughly and collect every unique treasure box (marked as "Special" rooms on the map linked below), use every save point, and scan every enemy. Work your way down through all six floors and defeat the final boss to unlock this achievement and a title for Patty. Of note, the boss has six parts and each must be scanned separately.

Use this map to navigate the dungeon.

I got a bug when I scanned the central head while playing in Russian, it always gave me a Chrome dragon instead of this central head. There was no such bug in the English version.
