How to unlock the Secret Mission 14 achievement in Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide

During the battle with Schwann, he will use a Mystic Arte called Blast Heart once you lower his health and he goes into Overlimit. This is your trigger to get ready to hit the boss.

After he uses Blast Heart, he will he staggered for a short bit. This is easy to see because he will physically stop moving and clutch his heart. You need to knock him over during this time period to unlock the secret mission.

One strategy is to try and stay away from him while he does his Mystic Arte, so you avoid the stun. Then go in with a long range attack to knock him down. I was able to do this with Azure Storm on my first try.

The other solution is to get close and cozy with him. You'll need the Recover skill and a Stun Resist accessory (see the clip below).

If you find the opening to be too short, just wait until he uses Blast Heart again. Each time he uses his Mystic Arte he takes less and less damage to break his shield to knock him down. By the third time he uses his Mystic Arte, you should be able to get it without trying too hard. I was immediately able to break his shield with a single Azure Storm after his third cast on normal mode during my first playthrough of the game with no grade modifiers. Just drag the battle on if you need too until you can get it. Set everyone on Defend if you're worried you're going to kill the boss.

You will see a short text congratulations with him and Great! when you complete the mission.

Sorry, this Game Clip has been removed

Late Edit: Here's the clip of me getting it on Hard on a New Game+. I had the Recover skill so I could immediately get back up from his pushback. I used the exact weapons you would have at the time you face this boss, so no Devils Arms tricks here. :)

If you're having trouble doing it at the time you fight Schwann, just redo the fight later once you have the proper accessories to try the fight again at Nam Cobanda Isle where you can replay bosses. It'll be MUCH easier to do, plus you can take a LOT more hits so you can really be close to him.

Ugh, I cannot get this for the life of me. I'm either too close and get stunned, too far away to make the windiw, and the two times I did hit him he didn't fall down.

What gives with this guy? How far away do I have to be to not get hit? Every time he uses it it hits me from what seems to be all the way across the arena, and his window of vulnerability doesn’t seem to ever get any longer.

Azure Storm did it for me, on his first use of his mystic arte, on normal difficulty. Thank you for this guide. Also, I didn't actually break his "shield" but he fell down anyways. Good luck to anyone going for this. music

The absolute easiest way to do this mission is to control Judith and make sure she has the Moonbeam attack mapped to use. When Schwann enters Overlimit, you want to move Judith as far away as possible. At the end of his Overlimit time, he will use his Mystic Arte "Blast Heart" which will do tons of damage and knock down anyone in range. To complete the mission, you need to hit him right after he does this move, as he clutches his heart and recovers for a few seconds. However, if you were in close trying to hit him, you'll be on the ground and won't recover quick enough.

Judith's Moonbeam arte immediately teleports her above an enemy for a downward strike, from anywhere in the battle arena. Since you were outside the range of Blast Heart, spam the  while his move is going off and as soon as you have control again, you'll perform Moonbeam for an easy takedown.

After the boss activates Super Strength , he uses Mystic Art immediately or after a few seconds, after which he stands short of breath for 2-3 seconds, grabbing his heart, at which point you need to quickly hit him.

The mystical art will knock everyone to the floor, even if Yuri has Level 4 Super Strength activated.
It is better to move away from the boss during Super Strength so as not to fall under Mystic Art and use the basic technique, as shown in the video, the easiest way:
