How to unlock the Secret Mission 19 achievement in Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide
Your objective is to knock down Alexei with heavy hitting Artes like Lone Wolf Storm or Raging Blast after he uses his Mystic Arte. He will pause and hold his hand to his head as though he has a headache for a short period of time, this is your time to strike him down!
Similar to #14 Secret Mission, the window of opportunity to knock him down increases the more Alexei uses his Mystic Arte. Eventually with enough uses, you can get Alexei to pause for seconds.
I was able to easily get it on the third time he casted his Mystic Arte. Try to stay away from him when he goes into Overlimit. Brilliant Cataclysm can tend to almost KO your characters if you aren't careful. If you run to the edge of the battlefield and hug the wall on the opposite side of your allies, you'll avoid all the damage from his Mystic Arte. Then run back and knock him down. You'll probably need to witness the Mystic Arte a few times to get this to work though.
Alternatively you can pop Overlimit 4 (requires limit Quadrant from synthesis) by pressing for the invulnerability when Alexei goes into overlimit. This can easily net you the achievement.
Set all your party members to Defend or Recovery/Heal if you're worried about killing the boss before you've gotten the mission, since he can heal himself forever. Once you knock him down you will see Great!!! and a quip from Alexei about it.
Alexei has a minor shield that needs to be broken even while winded, so the amount of damage you need to do is higher than you'd expect, which is why you need the extra time of him being winded to complete this. Use a strong arte or two to break through and knock him down. If his health is getting low, set everyone to "Defend" and let him go into Overlimit again and again until successful. He will heal himself periodically to keep the fight going.
When Alexei goes into Overlimit, you'll want to prepare for his Mystic Arte to be cast. You can move in close hold to block and weather the storm and be close for an attack. The skill "Recover" will help you get up more quickly after being knocked to the ground which is very helpful, but each time Alexei uses this move, he stays winded for a longer period of time as well, so if you don't get this right away, don't worry. Most people won't get it until the second or third time.
