Lured Zagi to the side of the ship and knocked him overboard to cool him off!

How to unlock the Secret Mission 4 achievement in Tales of Vesperia - Definitive Guide

I couldn't get the overlimit method to work, so I tried this one:

Back Zagi up as close to the rail as possible. Once you're there, try to line yourself up so you're directly opposite of the rail from Zagi. Now hit him with a Fang Strike (which knocks him into the air) followed by a Crushing Eagle. This may take a few tries, but it should send him over the edge fairly easily. It only took me two tries.

Below is a video of this method in action. Zagi goes overboard at around 0:27.

Using Fang Strike to set him up is definitely the way to go. I pushed him overboard using overlimit rather than Crushing Eagle, though.

Also, a major help would be setting the difficulty to easy, and then putting the other characters on manual so that you can focus on knocking him over.

Swear to god, this is one stupid achievement. Just cannot get it to work. I can relatively easily defeat this tool (did it when he was +4 and it was on Normal difficulty), but for the life of me cannot knock him over board. Can't get the Overlimit thing to work and can't string the two artes together to do it either. Taunt does nothing but fill the overlimit gauge as he happily runs around smacking everyone.

I stayed back from him until he ran up close to the edge and then did exactly what you said, Fang Strike and Crushing Eagle. Worked on the first try! +1 :D

Awesome solution. Fang Strike + Crushing Eagle worked on the first try!

Worked like a charm; much easier than the over limit method.

Agree this works well, but hard to pull off if you don't attack (B) Zagi first. I did a three attack combo then immediately followed the solution and had little trouble.

Great guide, but actually I only used the Crushing Eagle once, Zagi only needs to be real close to the rails, I got it on my first try.

This is one of the hardest secret missions.

Zagi needs to be near either railing on the ship and when he jumps up to use his attack, use your overlimit beneath him to knock him overboard. It may take a few attempts to get your timing right.

You can get this achievement when fighting Zagi onboard the ship.

I used the method where you get near the edge of the ship, guard, let Zagi use his Cyclone attack on you, and when he's above your head use Overlimit to knock him over.

Usually this would be a pain to line up. But I found a lot of the time, if not ALL the time, Zagi immediately charges you at the start of the battle. So if you have an Overlimit ready before the battle, run back to the edge and you can guard, let him attack, then use Overlimit to knock him over. If you miss the timing, you can keep trying this or other methods, or simple quit and reload your save and try this again.

He runs right at you and you're perfectly lined up with the edge, so you can get it done within a few seconds of starting the battle.

-1 because you really just repeated what they said about OL near the edge but just tried drawing it out. Should have -2 but you keep taking it down most likely for the same reason. High solution score doesn't mean much if you have to do that.

People who negative without giving a reason are the real idiots laugh My solution clearly explains a better time to do it that saved me a lot of effort, not my fault you didn't catch that.

I gave the reason. And most people will most likely do the same. I did catch that you basically stated the obvious in that he attacks you in the beginning though all bosses do. The problem is he runs up on you unless you have the item to boost your speed so this doesn't really work as well off the bat.

You gave the reason ... eventually, and it's not even a good one laugh And no, almost no downvoters provide a reason. Anyways, you didn't catch anything, clearly. The whole POINT is that he runs up to you, right at the start you're standing right beside the boat edge and it's perfectly lined up. I spent a lot of time trying to free run and line it up when it's set up for your right at the start, something other solutions fail to mention. My solution is perfectly valid smile

This is the most useful solution of the 4, worked like a charm within minutes. Upvote from me. Thanks.

He does a move I believe is called Reaper's Cross where he rockets up and forward. I just held guard at the closest part to the rail and when the move ended above my head I used my overlimit charge to knock him over the edge. You can also spam Rita's Stalagmite move while fighting him by the edge if you've gotten her to Lv. 26.

First, make sure your Overlimit is filled to level 1 at least. Then stand toward either the far left or far right side of the ship and keep using Azure Edge until Zagi come to attack you. Now hold down X to block and wait for him to use his Cyclone attack. Because you are blocking you will not get knocked into the air and he will float above your head. Quickly release block and hit your d-pad to activate your Overlimit. The small burst from the activation will send him into the water.

An easier way might be to position Zagi in between you and the railing, then use Fang Strike to knock him into the air, then trigger your Overlimit and send him over the side.
