How to unlock the I don't need the gun! achievement in Tango Fiesta - Definitive Guide

This achievement is much easier than some of the other melee-only boss achievements. I got it on my first try, compared to having to try for days and days to get the similar achievement on the Yatcha Queen in the next world.

This achievement can be achieved by replaying World 1-4 Seashell 4 - Gordon's Revenge boss fight in Story Mode.

You can use any loadout or character you would like. I would recommend using Bionic Cop for the larger health pool.

The first world boss is Gordon Bennette, a mustachioed large human who will chase you around the beach.

Gordon Bennette has three forms
A) his initial form where he slowly chases you around the level, firing single bullet out of his pistol and tries to knife you if he gets you close. He fires very slowly and deliberately, so his bullets can easily be sidestepped.
B) his second form after the second cutscene, where he throws away his gun and starts charging at you more aggressively with his knife
C) his third and final form after the third cutscene where he rips his shirt off and goes beserk, chasing you constantly Tasmanian Devil-style in a cloud of dust with knife attacks without respite.

The island is also full of low health henchmen who can entirely be ignored unless you are low on health and need a medkit. The key to being successful is not hitting Bennette accidentally with gunfire or grenades when killing the henchmen for more health. As it's sometimes hard to create space between Bennette and yourself when he's going berserk and chasing you, you may want to select a gun to kill the henchmen when needed that fires with very little spread and firing at a point blank range, while avoiding grenades altogether.

It seems as though both the henchmen's gunfire along with Bennette's knife attacks do very little damage to you. Unfortunately, your melee attack does virtually no damage either and has terrible range.

It's probably best to just charge right at Bennette and melee attack him with R1, sidestepping when he's about to fire his pistol. Once you are down to below half your health, retreat, carefully kill a henchmen with a medkit or veteran bubble, heal yourself. Then rinse and repeat.

His second and third forms when he aggressively chases you with knife attacks don't actually do much damage. I would just brawl with him toe-to-toe until you run low on health, then carefully create some space to heal.

The first couple of times I tried to hit Gordon with a knife and attack ordinary opponents with a shotgun. The plan didn't work. I decided to shut everyone up, just with a knife. It turns out that the barrel standing in the center of the map with its explosion causes damage that counts as a firearm. At the end of the round, it showed zero shots and there was no trophy (; Then he blew up the barrel right away, while no one was there and killed the boss and several people with first aid kits and a knife. The trophy fell out.
