How to unlock the Well, That Wasn't So Hard achievement in Team Sonic Racing - Definitive Guide

Here's some tips and tricks to help out with the Adventure Hard mode. I won't be uploading any videos for this solution, as there isn't any specific thing you need to do to win, and the worst consequence of failure is restarting a GP.

First things first:

[*]It's not as much as you think: Luckily, the only stages you're required to complete are the Races. That means the Team Race, Survival Race, Showdown Race and Grand Prix. All the others don't have difficulty select, so your work is cut down into about a third.

[*]Race with whomever you're most comfortable or skilled. You don't have to complete these as a specific character luckily, so go with whom you like!

[*]Get practiced: While Hard mode is doable to complete/win, it is a little more difficult than Normal. There's a good chance on your first race you might freak out. Don't worry, the Hard AI still makes rookie mistakes, like falling off the track and hitting walls. It's suggested that you finish Adventure Mode on Normal first, if nothing else to get a feel of the tracks, racers and computer patterns.

[*]Boost, Drift and Trick: Get used to boosting any way you can, performing as many tricks as (safely) possible, and drift on every turn. That means learning, mastering and remastering the Start Line Boost, Slingshotting and Skimboosting like crazy, and flipping and spinning for boost power and/or course correction.

[*]Pick Up Those Rings:You may not believe it, but they actually really help with your speed. Not only that, but if your teammates are having trouble, your Skimboost will REALLY put them forward. Don't forget, the bigger the speed gap between you two, the faster the boost for them.

[*]Check your progress: If you don't know which chapters you've done or not, check the corner. One stripe is Normal, two stripes is Hard. If a key is blocking the corner, another way to check is to select it—if the Expert difficulty is locked, that means you still need to beat it on Hard. If no difficulty shows up at all, congrats— you don't have to play that stage.

[*]Wisps; GIVE, GIVE, GIVE!: When you pick up a WIsp, always, ALWAYS—unless you need it right that moment or within the next 30 seconds or so—always give it to your teammate(by pressing cn_B). You both get Teamwork Energy for it, and the teammate is(usually) better at using it than you are; trust me. Of course, that also helps fill up your Ultimate meters, which I guarantee you'll need at least once. Which leads me to...

[*]Save Your Ultimate: It may be tempting, but don't blast your Ultimate as soon as you get it. Hold on to it until your teammates are ready. They'll let you know when their text bubbles at the top of the screen are yellow. They usually mention the word Ultimate as well. Remember: When all three Ultimates are activated at the same time, they last longer. That will help in bridging the gap, knocking out any opponents ahead of you, and securing your lead. If you're in the third lap, you can use it a little more freely, but be careful--your opponents have Ultimates too, and too many times have I been in 1st only to see Ultimate after Ultimate pass me right at the home stretch.

[*]Bonus Boxes: Bonus boxes can be used at your own leisure, but obviously put some thought into them. Why start out with a Black Bomb Wisp when you can immediately give it to your teammate and have them do it for you for Ultimate Energy? Item Box Cloner let you keep an item after you sent it? Good! Send it again! Of course, your best bets are Faster Charging Ultimate and Extended Team Ultimate. Also, keep in mind that Bonus boxes transfer over races in a GP! However, they are spent one at a time for each race. So try to pick a Bonus Box where you have at least four left, to get the most out of it.

Finally, keep at it: This is a Racing game--no lives to lose, no money to pay, no RNG to miss. If a race is bugging you, keep going, take a break, switch racers—it's no big deal. Again, the worst thing that could possibly happen playing Hard is having to restart a GP all the way through. Considering points are tallied between each race, you SHOULD be able to figure out the writing on the wall. Brush it off and keep going. As Tails would say every time he screwed up: Nothing hurt but my pride!

Hopefully this will help you guys out on getting the rest of those chapters completed. Ask questions below. Have fun out there, and stay way past cool. music

Nice guide, it is also worth noting that for the individual races, you just need to come in the top 3 for it to count as complete, you don't need to win. (To get all the stars you'll need to win, but that can be done on normal difficulty).

I redid the progress 4x and the percentage didn't go up, it's glitched at 97%... I cleared the cache, uninstalled the game, deleted the save and started all over again... and nothing. I'm giving up this achievement for now.

I'm sorry to hear that! You might have to contact Microsoft and see what they say about it.

You must complete every race in all 7 chapters in Hard difficulty. You can tell which stages you have finished in Hard difficulty from the Team Adventure map. In the top right corner of each of the Stages will be lines indicating number of difficulties completed. 2 lines indicates that it has been completed on Hard difficulty:

You need to complete all instances of these types of race in a chapter in Hard for this trophy to pop:
  • Team Race
  • Grand Prix
  • Survival Race
  • Showdown Race (Only in chapter 7)

You do not need to beat the challenge stages as they have a locked difficulty. Those include:
  • Traffic Attack
  • Ring Challenge
  • Daredevil
  • Eggpawn Assault
  • Destruction

By high complexity we mean precisely high, the second difficulty in the list, and not the maximum, initially closed.
