As with all achievements in the game, only the first player (purple) gets progress/unlocks.
You need to use the 'shock' special attack to defeat the second player 60 times.
The shock attack is found within the special boxes that spawn during all multiplayer gameplay modes and levels, and is indicated by a large thunderbolt on the top of the box. Destroy the box with your normal attack
to collect the attack. The shock attack can also be attained through destroying a box with a '?' which gives one of the potential abilities (shock attack, invincibility, speed 1.5x, speed 0.5x, reverse controls).
Once collected, the shock attack is stored on you, and you need to press
to activate it. You can tell you have a shock attack equipped if the thunderbolt symbol and the word 'Shock - ' is displayed by your score in the top-left corner of the screen. The attack creates a lighting area around you, covering approximatley two grid squares in all directions (including above you) that will defeat the other robot instantly if it hits them, unless they have invincibility active. You have one use of the shock attack, whether you hit an opponent or not.
If you collect another special box while you have shock, you lose the shock attack - with the exception of the 'reverse controls' special that affects the second player, found inside a '?' box. To be on the safe side, do not collect a '?' box if you have a shock attack already stored.
If you are defeated or fall off the platforms you retain the shock attack.
There is no way to up or guarantee the spawn of the shock attack box, but if you focus on picking up the shock attack and using it each time you will progress the unlock conditions. You will get this way way before popping the final grind achievement (defeat 1000 robots).
The achievement unlocks instantly after you get the final kill.
The (locked) achievement description is replaced with the description 'What a surprise' after unlocking the achievement.
