How to unlock the N Tournament Champion achievement in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection - Definitive Guide

**Night Vulture pointed out that I should specify how to tell which game this is. When you look at the "Tournament Fighters" games on the game selection screen, there will be something in parentheses (GEN, SN, or N). This game says (N) because it is the Nintendo version.

While hovering over this game at the selection screen, press cn_X to watch the developers play the game. Use cn_RT to fast forward to fight with
. When he has just a bit of health left, press cn_X to take control. Press cn_RB to open the menu. Save. Quit. Press cn_A to play the game. Press cn_RB to open the menu. Load game. Hit
a couple of times. Watch the short video. Achievement unlocked. You're welcome

Gunrunner318 said in the comments for some the achievement is delayed. Allow a minute or so after defeating the final boss before quitting out.

iTiiDuS iNc Said to specify that the "N" you are looking for to differentiate the games is in the game selection menu.

This isn't unlocking for me for some reason. What does shredder look like? Is he like that samurai ninja guy? It says shredder for me.

Yes. He's the last guy in clip before the ending scene. Red clothes with spikes. Just remember to press X before he's dead, then save AND quit. Then load back, and get the last couple hits in yourself.

Excellent solution. The game selection screen is confusing to know which game is which. I initially chose the wrong version at first. In any event, thank. +1

Awesome, thanks. Does this trick also work with the other two fighting games?

@LovemoreIndo unfortunately no. I have a guide for the SNES version that explains what settings to use and some tips, but you actually have to beat the story. Rewind helps a lot. For the Genesis version, there's a work around using two controllers to skip the first 8 fights, but you still have to fight the last 3.

@Greedy136 appreciate the input toast
Honestly, I didn't expect the watch feature to work for this game, (since it didn't in either one of the other fighting games).
You might want to make your own guide, if you have additional tips, for those who want to beat this game "legit". I did that for one of the Gameboy games in the collection 🤘
I'm sure some will appreciate it

@EMBICK *doesn't
I'm sorry that it didn't work for you. Did for me and others. Are you sure that you followed the steps precisely? You have to make sure that you press X to take control BEFORE you kill him. I would move around for a second. Then save and quit. Then load. The achievement takes a little bit to pop. Watch the short video. Let me know

@Captain0ats88 I hope not 😬
Are you sure that you took control, made an action, then saved and quit. Then loaded back?

This works for me. It did not work at first because I was not playing the right game. Make sure you are playing the NES version of this game and not the other versions.

I didn’t even have to hit him, I saved and loaded in just as his death animation began and it still popped. Thanks for the guide!

Thanks for sharing. Upvoted it.
It's the screen of the Game selection, not the Menu of the Turnament Fighters game.

Some comments for those who want to try this without using the watch feature:
The achievement does not unlock on Easy difficulty. The default setting is Normal, which works.

There are various special moves for the different Turtles, most of them with unique button inputs. There would not be enough space here, but a general move, shared by all four Turtles, is a flying kick / elbow attack by pressing "Forward" twice followed by either one of the two buttons used in this former NES game.

Shredder is opponent number 6.
