I highly recommend, before you begin any of the above, that you go into the audio settings and turn the music off. It may not seem important, but believe me, it's worth taking a few seconds to do this before settling into the grind. You do not want this game's soundtrack burrowing into your brain while you're playing, so it can return to torment you while you're trying to work/read/sleep/whatever.

If this achievement doesn't pop, as it seems it's happens, just follow what @Cookman76 says on first comment at the other solution: just hit start, close the game, and start it again. As soon as the main menu loads, the achievement pops.
