Unlike most MMOs that will take weeks of playing to reach max level (or some sort of level booster for new players if a game has been out a long time), TERA allows players to level extremely quickly, especially with Elite status active (which I mentioned in the Road Map).

There are two main ways to level:

  • PvE: This entails simply following the game's main story, killing enemies and completing quests, and doing dungeons. Basic MMO stuff.
  • PvP: This can only be done starting at Level 20, and will entail winning games of Kumas Royale. This mode is really silly, and you get nothing if you lose a match, but each one only takes 10-15 minutes so the risk/reward is pretty high in the player's favor.

As I mentioned above, you'll need to at least use the PvE method until Level 20. After that, you can continue on and play the game that way, or switch and exclusively play the PvP mode if you wish. You will get massive amounts of experience for a win, though nothing for a loss. However, matches are quick, and on top of the experience for a win, you get points to spend on new gear, and bunch of gold.

For perspective, three wins of Kumas Royale in one hour got me from Level 20 to Level 30. It will slow down the higher you go, but you can get a full level per win up to Level 60 and then half a level from 60-65, while you'll likely spend a few hours adventuring for the same reward. Get ready to look at fat babies for a while...

Up to lvl 40 you calmly run through the plot, as soon as the dungeons start to open you can forget about the plot, because on them you raise 2-3 lvls at once, after about lvl 60-61 - you return to the plot again, there will be exp from them drip a lot

It is worth noting that to access the solo version of the Akasha's Hideout dungeon (which is needed for the trophy), you must complete the "Search and Destroy" storyline quest.
It’s better not to abandon the storyline at level 40, but to reach this quest.

I'll add to the tip above. Up to level 60, you can only go through the dungeon, periodically dressing for quests and auctions. You should skip Akasha from the dungeons, since no one goes there without a can that removes the debuff. That is, you won’t get there, and even if you do get there, you won’t get through. Leave it at level 65.
After the 60th, go to Velika, there you will get dressed according to the quality of the harbor and go on quests up to more than 64 levels. You can go through the remaining dungeons, the last one opens at level 63. Don’t forget to do a diary, for which you also get good experience
