How to unlock the Marathon Medalist achievement in Terraria - Definitive Guide
This will come with natural play in the game, as it counts every step you take as 1m on any surface.
HELPFUL TIPS
1. Create a level area to run on. You can make it out of any material or dig a tunnel 3 spaces high. You can also have it go up/down one block and still be able to run on it.
2. Equip some boots to increase your running speed: Hermes boots for low level, Lightning or Frostspark Boots if duping.
3. Fastest material to run on is Asphalt Blocks, which are made of out Gel and Stone Blocks in a Solidifier (sold by Steampunker). These increase your running speed if you want to build a "road" out of them.
4. To keep track of distance, you can use a GPS to find out how long your pathway is or how far you are travelling if trying to boost this or check the Leaderboards.
***Same as 360 version***

This will come naturally. Just keep moving and you will get this once you have traveled over 42km. If you have your world marked for online, it will track your progress on the leaderboards.
