How to unlock the Unusual Survival Strategies achievement in Terraria - Definitive Guide

Step 1: Craft: Bottled Water (Restores 20 life)

Crafting Station: Furnace
Sand = Glass
Glass = Bottle

Crafting Station: Sink(or water)
Bottle = Bottled Water

Step 2: Drown yourself (submerge yourself in a body of water ensuring you do not have items that allow you to breathe under water equipped and wait for your air bubbles to run out and you will start to take damage)Then drink the Bottled Water. Achievement will pop


I drank the bottle at 99 HPs out of 500.
masterelliot994 drank the bottled water after losing a single heart.

Got the in game achievement but not the Xbox achievement
I have been helping a couple of people today with other terraria achievements and this happened with a couple 'Boots of the Hero' loaning out terraspark boots they got the in game achievement but not the Xbox achievement. Hate to hear this happened on this achievement as well for you

I just unlocked this achievement, I drank the water after losing a single heart and the achievement popped, no need to wait until you are almost dead

Darn got the in game achievement but not the xbox achievement. Any one find a fix for this or is it a waiting game for it to be patched?

After trying it again multiple times, the achievement did pop after getting down to one heart and drinking the water while also surviving.

I can confirm that all three of the Labor of Love achievements can fail to pop on Xbox but will pop in game. Of the reports that this occurred on most happened while in a multiplayer game not as the host and were resolved by performing the trigger action in single player or as the host of a multiplayer session.

I have had two reports that attempting this particular one multiple times was required with it finally triggering at very close to death Hit points. In all reports the Xbox achievement eventually triggered.

Drink a bottled water while drowning

Bottled water can be crafted using a bottle, made from glass, and being inside a pond, lake, etc.
