This achievement should unlock fairly early on. The cheapest and quickest way to do this follows.
Upon arriving at the car rental, rent either the Pontiac GTO or the Chevrolet Wagon for 10 minutes costing you 800 credits. After buying either house for 50,000 credits, go to the Chevrolet and Saturn dealership and buy the Saturn Sky for 22,000 credits. Complete a couple of races to earn money until you have 25,000 credits. At which point head to the Ford dealership and buy a Ford Mustang for 25,000 credits. Should take around 10 minutes to get this achievement.
