How to unlock the Long, Strange Trip achievement in Tetris Effect: Connected - Definitive Guide

This achievement is pretty easy till the very last level on journey mode. (Took me about 15 attempts)

The level was mix up in speed starting at medium pace, dropping to slower pace then getting extremely quick in the last 3rd.

A tip is to just complete lines as low as possible don't worry about stacking a few lines to hit in one go. Especially as the last part is very quick and you want to literally have every bit of space possible to form quick and easy lines. You can afford a couple mistakes on the super fast section if you've been good with completing lines till that point.

For anyone who has not attempted the last stage yet, here's the speeds to anticipate:
30 Lines at LVL 6, 30 Lines at LVL 4, 30 Lines at LVL 10. In that order.

"Beginner" difficulty, riiiight. Feels good to know that I apparently completely and absolutely suck at Tetris. That final Lvl. 10 section is completely impossible for me. shock

I had to wait until all the credits rolled to get this achievement. There might be a way to skip it or speed it up but you can just walk away once you finish the last stage.

Pops after the credits and you get your rank. The credits are only 2-3 minutes.

Since the end is very fast, I’d recommend trying to get the all your blocks cleared before the 3rd segment. Do this on easy mode, too.

Just clear Journey Mode. If you're going for just the achievement, you can do this on Easy if needed.

Just to add, in order for the achievement to pop, you need to sit through the entire credits and wait for the total score and rank to appear on your screen.

I have completed every stage in journey mode at all difficulty levels, and yet the achievement still hasn’t popped for me. Any tips on what I’m doing wrong?

Extremely hard last level, even on easy difficulty. :(

Thanks el chapo. I just unsuspectingly played the last lvl working on 2 other achievements and hadn’t realized I’d over looked this one available. GG sorry you’ve been skunked did you see the previous post. I’ll message on Xbox to bring to your attention.

I suck as well, have been repeating the first areas of journey for about 5 hours. You start to get the hang of how to stack effectively with practice. Went to third last area and did much better, took me about an hour to get through the last level there. On second to last area now. The practice in the earlier areas is helping me work to the 10 x S rank achievement as well. At speeds up to 8 the practice really helped. at speeds 9 and 10 you have to change thinking from effective stacking to looking at the block, and thinking "how will this complete the next line?" The AI systems to flip from making you stack effectively when it is slow, to giving you the blocks to complete lines when it is faster.

Wow, that was fun. Thanks for the headsup on speeds! I did however forget and pushed my glasses up right when it went to max speed. Almost bricked out. Was quite stressfull to solve my mess at max speed. :)

As the other guide has mentioned, the trick is to keep the screen as empty as possible on the final level, don't be tempted to try go for 'Tetris' clears or combos, just keep the stack as low as possible. The only thing I would add is that even if at the start you are comfortable and managing the game well, don't be tempted to press 'up' on the D-Pad to do the instant drop. Keep your eye on the top right on the next upcoming shape, then you are constantly one move ahead and keep on top of things. Sounds obvious, but when I mentioned it to my girlfriend she didn't realize it was there! Finally, DO NOT GIVE UP. My final 5/6 clears I was about 2 lines from the top. Even if you think you're losing control, you can still get 1 or 2 clears here and there and it all adds up.
