Make sure mode is set to Ultra and 1 minute for this achievment. Set the speed to 10 (or similiar speed you can handle) and tried to get as many tetries as I could (clearing 4 lines at a time). When it was clear I couldn't get any more, I cleared 1 and 2 lines until the time ran out. Achievment will pop as soon as you get the 12,500 points. I set the speed to 10 because the pieces will fall faster and you will have more pieces to work with. At the lower speeds, you don't get enough pieces to get enough points before the minute is up. Worked great for me. About 2 Tetrises on level 10 or 11 should do the job.

See "5,000 Ultra". The easy way to get more points on this mode is to up the starting level to whatever you find manageable. I would recommend about 9-10 as it’s fast but you should still be able to form Tetrises and you only need a few to hit 12,500.
