How to unlock the Combo achievement in Tetris Splash - Definitive Guide
The achievement description says you need to increase the combo to above 8, but you really only need to reach 8, not go above it. Your combo is increased by clearing lines in succession with each piece you get.
Refer to the video below:
Build the grid as high as possible with a gap of two squares on one side or the other. Then start dropping pieces down the gap to clear lines. The long tetrimino is the only piece that has the potential to not clear a line for you once you start the combo. Therefore, store a piece in your queue to swap out the long piece if needed once you start the combo. In my video, I got the long piece near the end of my combo, but I was able to use it to clear a line. Luckily, I had the red piece in queue to use to clear the last line since the square would have done me no good.
Might take a few tries to get the right sequence and placement of tetriminos to pull it off.

Infected Z posted this strategy which works pretty well: Fill the screen with lines, leaving one side with 2 columns open. That way, all of the pieces except the 1x4 blue can make a single line or more (as long as the blue piece isn't first, there should be a tetrimino down there to make a line with). I estimated that it would need to be at least 14 rows high (the game space should be 20 rows by 10 columns). Also, holding pieces doesn't break your combo.
