How to unlock the Old School achievement in Tetris Splash - Definitive Guide

You must start on level 1 of Marathon and complete level 15 without using the Hold Queue. The Hold Queue is when you hit either RT or LT to store or swap a tetrimino. So basically you have no choice but to play the tetriminos in the order they come.

One problem is that if you are used to using the Hold Queue, you will be tempted to hit RT or LT on accident out of habit. If you go under Help & Options then Controls, there is an option to disable Hold Queue...BUT you need to have 9 achievements in the game to unlock this feature.

I am pretty sure you have to get through all levels without failing in one game.

You definitely need to start from level 1, and it is so much easier going for this achievement once you have 9 achievements so you can disable hold queue.

This one also requires skill. You must start at level 1 and complete level 15 without holding any pieces. If you really cannot fight the reflex to hold a piece, there is an option to turn holding off.

If anyone is struggling with the control settings I want to share a tip!

Go to settings and change the controller inputs in custom!

Make it so you turn the pieces to the left with LT and to the right with RT.

And if you have 9 achievements you can make it so you can´t store a piece which would void this achievement but what I did was just to set it to Y button which I never would press anyway.

Then to make a piece fall down quick I just went with down on the left tumb stick since that felt natural.

This setting made it much easier for me to control the pieces and the action!
