How to unlock the Showered with platinum achievement in The Adventures of Tintin The Secret of the Unicorn - The Game - Definitive Guide
This cheevo requires you to get a platinum medal on every challenge. That involves gettin platinum on all 4 sword, 12 plane and 12 side car challenges.
SWORD:
These are very simple, simply hack away like a mad man and you should get platinum fairly easy.
See my other walkthrough for a more in depth view on the sword fighting.
SIDE-CAR:
There no easy way to do these except practice, practice and more practice.
For the timed laps remember to try and boost off every jump and avoid the gravel and after a few attempts you will learn the course and shave those valuable seconds off your lap times to get platinum.
To catch the truck and destroy it, again try to boost of the jumps and try to stay as close to the truck as posible. The last 4*challenge was a nightmare for me as there are very few jumps but again practice makes perfect.
Battle mode again just takes practice, replay as much as you need to, learn where the targets come from, where helicopters and truck come in try to destroy the bikes and then the choppers/trucks when you can, destroying them is invaluable in the last 2 stages but dont ignore the bikes when you are going for them otherswise you will fail.
PLANE:
These are by far the hardest challenges to get platinum on...........UNLESS you have a kinect sensor.
If you have a kinect sensor you can very easily get platinum on 8 of the challenges which leaves you with the 4 CTF to do with the controller.
See my more in depth guide for more info:
The trick with CTF is BOOST, dont worry too much about destroying the enemy planes, just boost to the flags and back, remember with boost after you press the A button the boost bar goes down, when it gets into the small box hit A again for more boost, this is essential in getting platinum medals. Only destroy ballons and shoot at planes if they are in you flight path, dont go out of your way to destroy them,
Anyways good luck with these challenges and if you have anymore tips or glitches that make any of these easier let meknow and i will add it and credit you.
It's not enough just to boost all the time. To get platinum it's mandatory to destroy 4 floating turrets located near flags' respawn points in a process. Plus some baloons and probably one of the planes as well.
6 flags + 4 turrets + some of the baloons = platinum.
There are 3 types of challenges, Sword, Plane and Sidecar with a total of 28 challenges you are required to earn platinum on. Each challenge will give you a target time/score needed for a bronze. Each time you beat the target medal, it will display the time/score needed for the next medal. However, you are able to earn platinum on your first attempt. Each group of challenges will start off with an ‘easy’ difficulty, than get progressively harder.
The following is a basic guide to beating all challenges:
Sword:
These are the easiest of the challenges and will only require you to parry incoming attacks and then attack when the enemy is vulnerable. There will always be more than enough enemies to reach platinum, so these shouldn’t prove difficult.
Sidecar:
Time Trial
- Always be sure to hold LS forward when landing off a jump to get the boost.
- Never go in the gravel as this will slow you down.
- Don’t go out of your way for a jump, always try and take the shortest route.
- Practice, the required times aren’t difficult and once you learn the layout of each track it should be easy to beat.
Catch the lorry
- Use LS to gain a boost and get as close to the lorry as possible.
- Take the inside line when going around corners as this will close the gap significantly.
- Overall, these aren’t too difficult and again will require practice to learn the best route.
Free-aim
- Try and take out enemies as soon as you see them.
- Aim for the enemies closest first as they will be easier to hit.
- As soon as lorries or choppers show up, focus your attention at taking them out first.
- Again, this will be a matter of practice until you learn where each enemy appears from.
Plane:
Photos
- The key to beating this is to best utilize your boost. Try and active it when the bar reaches the small window at the end to avoid having to wait for it to recharge. Don’t spam it.
- Having said that, only use your boost where you feel comfortable doing so. It’s best to only use it on straights as using it when going through the reticles on a corner can quickly make your plane difficult to control.
- If you happen to miss one of the reticles, especially on the 2 difficult levels, as missing a reticule will not leave you with enough time to beat the platinum medal time.
Collect the flags
- Focus on collecting the flags, as opposed to shooting down enemies. The flags will be easy to spot as they have beams of light clearly marking their location.
- Again, make good use of your boost, waiting until it is near the end of the bar before using it again. Don’t spam it.
- On the last 2 levels, you will need to shoot down some enemies to beat the required score, so try and line up enemies along your flight path. Don’t go out of your way.
Shoot down enemy planes
- These require you to simply shoot down as many planes as possible in the time limit. Always try and shoot the planes around you, there will be more than enough.
- Engaging in a dog fight with a single plane will waste time. The majority of planes will come at you so you shouldn’t have too much trouble with these challenges.
