How to unlock the On the Fly achievement in The Amazing Spider-Man - Definitive Guide
Note-This does not have anything to do with comic books found in mission INSIDE buildings. all pages are found outside.
Look on rooftops and on the ground. And 100 of them are flying in the air(literally flying) For these you will need to press Y when the outer circle closes on the Y button on screen
Just keep doing the missions and side missions (The side mission are where you will find most of them) and WHENEVER you see the RB button pop on your screen hit it and you will Zip to the Comic page. After chapter 5 it will be easier because it will be night time and you can see them more easily from a distance with there orange/yellow glow. And after you get 500 of them they will pop up on your mini map automatically.
Edit-I have also found that there are a lot of comic books on ground level on the outskirts of Manhatten Examples Docks,Bridges And along the waters on solid ground.
Here are some very good tips from (XanthicAntimony)
These are some things that helped me. Check the top of water towers, buildings with antennas, and billboards. Those are common places. Also every park and sports field has quite a few. If you want to find a LOT, circle the outside of the island. The docks and rails/roads along the water hold quite a few. Don't be suprised if when you press RB you dont automatically zip to it, your timing may be off. If you see the prompt pop up on the screen enter web rush and scan around for it. And if all else fails, turn the music volume way down and listen for the distinctive noise that the comic pages make.
Once you get the mini map comic finder, just swing around and you should get them, but if you like me cannot find a few, check the top of tall buildings (like the Oscorp building) since if they are too high they will not appear on the map. It is also worth it to note that you can get every comic when they start appearing, you do not have to progress the story. Also, if you don't get the required 500 for the finder or 700 for the achievement by the end of the game, you get to go back into the city AND choose what time it is, so you can go back to night and look around.
Dae1373 has a few tips too. he says... I got to 698 and had been swinging round for an hour when I finally found one that hadn't appeared on the map. It was in the same spot where you start one of the OSCORB SECRET LABS, which I hadn't completed yet. So, I thought maybe I didn't see the yellow dot because the side mission's icon was blocking it on the map. So then I headed to the next OSCORB SECRET LAB and there it was, the last one, and again, that one did not appear on the map. I found it strange that the only 2 that did not appear on the map, was directly where I had 2 side missions I had not yet completed. Thought this might be helpful to some.
Edit-I have received messages for videos for these. I do not have a camera to upload these. And I cannot find any (This is a lot to tape anyway) But If I find one I will post it. Immediatley
Edit 2- Apparently some people don't appreciate what we do here. IF YOU VOTE NEGATIVE COMMENT WHY! I know this works and other people have obviously done it too. So if its not working let me know instead of just voting negative.
However, this isn't that bad (I remember Spider-Man 2 collectables - ugh...). There are 700 comic pages all around the city, and just the city. You do not have to deal with these things during missions in confined areas - there are other collectables in those areas for you to find .
Anyway, there are two areas you will find these pages: either stationary on a surface (the ground, building perch, lamp post, etc) or floating around in the sky.
The best advice I can give is to pay attention. I found 99% of mine by simply noticing when the "R1 Comic Book Page" prompt came on screen. Then I would hit Web Rush (R1) and usually the center cursor would default to the page.
Now, I know what you are thinking: "But if there are 700, then this could become a nightmare once you get 650 or so!" True, and those of you who played games like Spider-Man 2, Prototype, and other games with a ridiculous number of collectables are right with your concern.
However, I believe Activision is learning (maybe ). Once you hit 500 pages, the last 200 appear on your mini-map as yellow dots. As you swing around the city you will notice them pop up on your map as you get close to a respective page, so the daunting task of "finding every last one" becomes much less tedious.
If I missed anything please let me know in the comments section.
As you swing around Manhattan, you will see glowing yellow comic pages. Sometime you will be prompted to press to web rush to them.
There are 100 flying comic book pages which you must press to web rush to, and then press when given the prompt in order to collect, and 600 pages that are on buildings or solid ground.
Once you have collected 500, the remaining 200 will appear as yellow dots on your mini-map, making it much easier to collect the final pages.
If you’re having trouble getting 500, once you complete the game you will be able to select what time of day you want to explore the city in – pick Night, and the yellow glow that the comics give off will be really prominent, and help you find them. They also make a noise if you are close to them.
Collecting all 700 pages will give you this trophy.
*Manhattan Side Quest Mission*
They appear on your mini-map once you obtain 500 of them. If you’re missing some and they are not appearing on the mini-map by swinging around, they are either:
-
Being blocked by another marker (e.g. my last 3 were on the bank but were blocked by the bank robbery Felicia marker)
or - They are either very high or very low. Look on the top of sky scrapers and on street level.
This achievement shouldn’t be a problem.
