How to unlock the Spider-Man achievement in The Amazing Spider-Man - Definitive Guide

Super hero difficulty isn't too horribly hard, but there are a few parts that can be kind of frustrating. The damage it takes to take down enemies seems to be the same, but they do quite a bit more damage to you, so be aware of that. I will be outlining some general tips and then tips for specific parts that gave me trouble
First and most importantly, take your time. If you have the option to sneak around rather than just go in head first, do it.
Use the enviroment pieces to take down multiple people or stronger enemies when there are smaller crowds. It can ruin your day to have one guy that can block and screw up your combo in a crowd. Make the stronger enemies your first targets.
Plan your upgrades. For me, getting the double thread was a must so you can take down two enemies at once with the stealth takedown. Increasing your combo boost was important too so you can build up those signature moves faster. However, getting about mid game, you will need to start focusing on defense, so keep that in mind.
I would say if you find yourself having trouble, go ahead and do the side missions, but if this is your second playthrough I would skip the long side missions (such as the black cat bank heist) as there isn't a whole lot to be gained here that can't be gained from xp farming the S-01 fight. The one group of side missions I would say are a must would be the secret labs as they give you more tech upgrades.
Also, keep in mind who you do and do not have to fight. If it is possible to just float through an area without confrontation, do it. You should have more than enough xp gain from fights you either have to do or are comfortable doing, so getting into it with every bad guy you run across can get frustrating if they manage to get the upper hand on you.
Some stuff for specific parts of the game that may help you out.
During the protect Whitney segment near the start of the game, I had a lot of trouble trying to kill off everyone and keep her alive. If you have the same issue, stay right where the game sets you after they start shooting at her and just take turns webbing each of them up. It does help if your webs are stronger, but isn't absolutly needed for this. If you don't attack at all it seems like it takes a little longer, but only three guys will be shooting at her and you should have no problem keeping them at bay.
Most of the boss fights are fairly simple if you learn the enemies routine. Just pay attention to if you need to dodge, multi-dodge, or roll away. For me, the only big problems were the S-02 and Smythe.
For the S-02, the fight is pretty simple until you get to the rooftop. After you hit him a time or two his laser attacks across the rooftop can be a pain to jump over, so use your webswing. You will easily be able to clear them.
Fighting Smythe I had the same problem, but webswinging here didn't help me. What I ended up doing was hitting him with webs a few times, then web rush decently far away from him, rinse, repeat.
Other than that there really aren't too many difficult parts to work around. Just keep all your abilities in mind and take it slow. You should have no problems. If your having an issue, post a comment and I will help the best I can.

Did you change the difficulty at any time?

Hey dude, the EXACT same thing happened to me. I kept it on super hero through out the game. I went back through the levels after the story to get the inside collectables and I checked the difficulty and it was still on super hero.

Hmm. Could be some kind of glitch. Being that the game is still new, this kind of thing may pop up. I haven't heard of it until now, but a common way to fix stuff like this in other games is to clear the cache and start it back up. Unfortunatly, you may have to replay. If I find out anything else. I will post it on here.

The only other thing that I can think of would be that you started a new game on super hero difficulty and didn't just replay the levels on S.H. right?

All I did was replay the S-01 fight to get the no ground achievement BUT someone on PS3Trophies didn't even know you could replay levels and the same thing happened to them. I've started a new game and I'll see how it goes from there

still not proven from what I can see here, but since the levels are much easier if you're going through and replaying, since you have all upgrades, give it a whirl and let us know.

Aura, I have confirmation that replaying the chapters on Super Hero difficulty does NOT work. I changed my difficulty to Super Hero on my completed game, played every chapter and Secret Oscorp labs and the achievement DID NOT pop. I guess because there is no way to reply all of the side missions on this difficulty. Sorry peeps! You have to start a new game.

BTW, FuzzedUpCookie, your unlocked outfits do carry over into a new game. The comic pages, etc, do not!

I had no problem on Super Hero...and I went back through prior to completing the game to get 100% of the collectables (saving the easier ones for the end of the game). I am not certain why others had difficulty with the cheevo's popping after the game completed.

For the S-02 fight (on Super Hero difficulty) you NEED to web retreat from the laser. That was a 1-hit kill for me every time until I realized that little trick. As for Smythe, I just webbed him up from the jump (I had everything maxed out at that point).

just did it super hero diff. i only did the main missions, no side missions what so ever! i remember a few collectibles for tech upgrades etc from my previous collectible run but i got enough to upgrade almost everything that i could upgrade, skipped allot of battles.. just rush through the missions if possible.. the smythe boss was annoying but other than that it's pretty easy. if i knew this i would have done this one my first run >_< good luck all!

The best thing that can be done with Superhero difficulty is to couple it along with all of the other collectible achievements because you need the upgrades in order to give you an edge.

You die incredibly fast on Superhero so the web retreat (LB) becomes your best friend. Silent Takedown a henchmen and then web retreat away and repeat.

On levels with Infected make a solid note of the heavies and as soon as you have upgraded your web throw constantly grab them and toss them. This leaves them down on the ground and an easy takedown.

For the part where you are protecting Whitney simple web-rush (make sure you slow time down) and hit them with your shooters a handful of times. Most of the time they are going to fly back and be stuck to the wall.

Bosses are simple but there are some trouble areas:

S-02 Fight:

Make sure you are always using web escape to dodge the massive laser that auto targets you. Web Escape is the only way to avoid it without being one shotted for the most part.

When you reach the second portion of the fight the best thing you can do is spam your shooters as fast as you can and constantly jump, using your web rush to move quickly out of the way of the lasers.

Hunter Fight:

Do not get caught in one of those blue explosive orbs, it is a one shot. Slow down time with web rush and move away as fast as possible. Don't worry too much about using your shooters just spam RB and once you get close enough hit it again for an attack on them.

Exo-01
For this fight just run in a circle around him and if you uses a cross laser just use a small jump to hop over. Constantly fire your shooters to take him out with ease.

The Lizard:
When you first fight him he will attack with a three hit combo and immediately do a tailspin that you need to do a quick roll away from. Just take it slow and do your best to tag him a few times and move away.

The second portion of the fight is fairly straight forward however whenever he dives at the platform just roll off to the side and use a web rush back up to the ceiling.

Other then that just make sure you use stealth as best as you can and only hop down once you only have one or two guys left. If you have any questions comment.

If anyone is hesitant to start a run on "Super Hero" because they either are not familiar with the game mechanics, or would rather not jump into the unknown headfirst, I can honestly say that this difficulty is not difficult at all. You may die a few times as the game throws stuff your way, but it is not something you will spend hours upon hours trying to find the perfect strategy to overcome.

The game is fairly straight forward mixing open world (sandbox) aspects with linear missions. What tends to send people looking at the easier difficulties to get acquainted with this type of game are the enemies - and that makes sense. If you are dying every time you encounter a bad guy, then obviously you would rather enjoy the game instead of bashing your face against a brick wall. But, honestly, this game is great to keep things simple at the beginning, even on Super Hero difficulty. There is a lot of tutorial time in missions to get comfortable with the mechanics, whether it is movement or combat.

I found with this difficulty that web retreat (L1) and stealth takedowns will not only make your gaming experience easier, but also much more enjoyable. Nearly every enemy can be taken down via the stealth method (bosses and hunters being the exception), you will knock out the two trophies associated with stealth takedowns insanely quickly, as well as the generic "defeat X amount of enemies" trophies, and you will hardly ever take a hit. smile

BE WARNED: You need to start the game from this difficulty - there is no "change difficulty last few minutes of every chapter" move here. The game needs to be completed without ever changing the difficulty.

At the beginning of the game, you will have the choice between Human, Hero, and Super Hero difficulty. Select Super Hero and complete the game in order to unlock this trophy. Super Hero is The Amazing Spider-Man's Hard difficulty.

This trophy stacks with Peter Parker and Vigilante; completing the game on Hero will also give you the trophy for completing it on Human.

If you choose to play through on Super Hero first as I advised, you will probably find yourself playing much more stealthily than if you went for an easier difficulty. Try to take down as many villains as possible in the shadows, using to perform stealth takedowns, and don't be afraid to web retreat with if you find that your health is dropping too low. Most sections can be gotten through if you go slowly and carefully - rushing in is more hazardous, and of course, practice makes perfect.

If you play through on an easier difficulty first, Super Hero won't be half as difficult, since you'll know exactly what to expect in each level.

Potentially Glitched – It has been reported that people have completed the game on Super Hero and only received the trophy for completing it on Human. In order to avoid this, before starting a new game, go to the Options menu on the Main Menu and change the difficulty to Super Hero. Then select Super Hero when you are given the choice after starting a New Game. This should ensure you get all the trophies you deserve when you finish the game.

Start the game on Super Hero mode (hard) and do not change the difficulty in the pause menu in order to stack these 3 'difficulty' achievements upon completion:

  • Peter Parker
  • Vigilante
  • Spider-Man
