How to unlock the Black ICE achievement in The Ascent - Definitive Guide

To get this achievement to pop you have to deploy your hack by holding cn_Y like you are trying to hack a gate or ATM when an enemy hacker is trying to hack you. It will show up as a big yellow circle when they are trying to hack you. I had to hunt for a combat hacker once I understood how to do this, and I ultimately popped it against a bounty, Lost Eerie, in the CorpZone district in Arcology: Highstreet. Once I realized he was trying to hack me, I just held cn_Y to counter-hack and the achievement popped.

I found them multiple times on the bridge between CorpZone and the Umbilical.

Later on during the story, you will enter an area called corpZone where you fill first encounter the Combat Hacker enemy. This enemy will try to hack you, and you'll see a yellow circle under your character to indicate that it is happening. When you see it, hold button-y.png to initiate a counter-hack and deploy black ICE to unlock the achievement.

You need to activate the cyberdeck when they try to hack you, at that moment a yellow dome appears above you. Towards the end of the game there will be many such opponents.

These enemies can be found in the Corp Zone.
