How to unlock the Example to Others (Survival Mode) achievement in The Banner Saga 2 - Definitive Guide
I'm going to assume people know the basics of Survival. There are other great solutions to other achievements that go over this in more detail, especially eohjay's solution to Krumr's Mentor - I had that open as a reference when going for literally every survival achievement. Read that one first, even if you're not going for that achievement yet.
The party I used is:
Alette, Oddleif, Canary, Derdriu, Nid, Zefr
Canary and Derdriu definitely do count as female (they didn't when this game was originally released on Steam) so that's good. In the beginning, you'll need some units to take a few hits, and they have the armor/strength to do so.
The goal, like most of the strategies (see other survival achievement strategies) is to get Stravh's Bond and level Alette to 10 ASAP. At level 6, give her Overwatch. When leveling up, max her strength, give her the max lucky strike and artery strike talents, and give her a lot of willpower. With level 3 Overwatch and Stravh's Bond, anytime anyone walks close to Alette, she hits them, knocks them back, and ends their turn. The turn-ending is the key point - if you bunch everyone else around Alette, melee enemies can't touch you. She literally shuts down every enemy move. 3 rounds of this (so 9 willpower total) is usually enough to weaken the enemies so much that you can safely run out with everyone else to mop up.
I got lucky with getting Stravh's Bond early, but if you don't want to rely on luck, you can use the cloud save trick from eohjay's solution. First get every character in your party to exactly level 5 (no higher, no lower). That's because Stravh's bond is a level 6 item, and the game gives you random items that are between -1 and +1 of your lowest/highest level chars. So easiest way to get it is everyone at level 5 (if one is at 5 and the rest are at 3, your item drops will range from levels 2 through 6, making it take a lot longer to find Stravh's). So start the fight, quickly see if the drop is Stravh's (right d-pad to scroll through enemy units) and if not, reload or use your cloud backup.
You have a lot of ranged characters - use them to focus on either killing enemy archers (they can hit you without triggering Overwatch) or armor breaking. The more you armor break, the more Alette hits them with Overwatch. For the shield-holding varl/dredge, if you leave them at full armor, Alette has a small chance of missing them, so try to armor-break them too.
Good luck - you'll still need some, in case you get bad starting positioning, or bad Eyeless pops, or other cheesy stuff that can one-shot a full character. That's what reloads are for.

Very good additional tip on getting Stravhs Bond in regards to having everyone at level 5. I ended up getting one on my no death run, but want to ensure I get it ASAP for Krumrs Mentor.

*MISSABLE* It's unclear whether female horse-born void this achievement. Unless you want to risk it, you'll have to stick to the only six human women in the game, that way you'll also unlock "Not Some Fantasy". Support Alette's Overwatch with Rain of Arrows to stun larger targets so you have more time to wear them down.
