How to unlock the High Spirits achievement in The Banner Saga 2 - Definitive Guide

TL;DR: keep morale above poor at all times (weak/normal/good/great).

I found this wikia page very useful in understanding the Morale system in the game and what you can expect throughout your journey.

1st, I'd like to address those that import a save from the first game. Your morale at the end of the save data WILL impact the morale of the 2nd game. If you ended in a poor state, do NOT import for this will void the achievement. If at any point of the 1st game you reached the poor level, as long as you don't end the game there, you should be safe.

My advice is to maintain morale above "normal." In fact, strive to keep it around "good" due to increases & decreases from options taken. At times, there are choices where regardless of your selection, you may lose morale. This can be very risky to getting this achievement. Play it safe, and if necessary, make another run-through on easy.

Any inputs or errors noticed, feel free to let me know! Thanks all and good luck!

@Boots Orion - I'm glad that the hard reboot trick worked out for you. I know that a lot of other games are encountering similar glitches where a hard reboot is required to get the achievement to unlock... Similarly, some achievements may ninja-unlock but do not appear as unlocked in your achievements page until a later date. Sometimes the typical pop-up achievement will never come up at all but appears as unlocked on your achievement page... facepalm

I just got the achievement in the first game similar to this. I had weak morale a few times, so I think it means getting down to poor.

Worth noting that the end morale state carried over from the first game when transferring the save.

However, you can get the achievement in Banner Saga 2 if you had low morale at any point but the end of the first game.

This achievement is glitched, as well as the Hard difficulty and hunger ones. Didn't unlock any of them.

@WhyattThrash - Did you import a save file? Checking Recent Winners and it looks like a couple of people have recently unlocked it. As painful as it may be, perhaps consider starting a new game without importing as a last resort. Sorry that it hasn't unlocked for you :(

Nope, no import, was on a fresh save file. But since there were about five achievements that didn't unlock, it's fair to say something's glitchy.

Can anyone confirm that weak morale does NOT void the achievement? I think in the first game you had to keep morale on at least normal. Just wondering because it did not unlock for me, I never hit poor morale.

cptObbes I believe it's' just broken, like many other difficulty-based achievements for this game

I had this and the Quartermaster achievement glitch on me (i.e., not pop).

I got the in-game yellow renown pop-ups as soon as I was back at the menu screen post credits. Usually there is a 2-3 second delay between that and the achievement popping, however, I couldn't get anything to work (reloading the final save, reloading the final battle save, etc.)

As a last resort I did a hard reboot of the console and as soon as I reloaded the game both achievements popped almost immediately.

For this achievement, the lowest your morale should ever go is "Normal" on the world map while traveling. If you hit normal, I would immediately call for a camp (hit Y, then A) and rest for at least one day. Similar to the Quartermaster achievement, you can use the random encounters to your advantage and choose options that will increase morale. I would suggest always choosing battle options first, then food, then morale.
