How to unlock the Leader of Clans achievement in The Banner Saga 2 - Definitive Guide

no one has posted a guide so i'll try to help.

i had just over 200 clansmen going into the final chapter (ch. 14)

i followed the guide for keeping an alliance with rugga. when i popped that achievement, i then had 679 clansmen. not including fighters or varl. the most i ever had before that was 428. rugga's alliance brought me his clansmen.

The biggest boon to getting this achievement is also getting the "Alliance of Convenience" achievement. Doing that will join Rugga's group to your cause, giving you 200 extra clansmen right before reaching Abberang. I don't think it's possible to miss the achievement that way, unless you chose to train extra fighters (which is useless, and hurts both this and the "Quartermaster" achievement, so don't every do that).
