How to unlock the Quad-Core Hardcore (Survival Mode) achievement in The Banner Saga 2 - Definitive Guide
Walkthrough : you have to begin with 4 varls and no other characters. It seems to be obvious, but you have to choose 6 characters when you begin the game, and it could give you a bad interpretation of this achievement.
At the next step, before beginning the first battle, don't forget to remove 2 characters and keep only 4 varls.
I did it with Iver, Bolverk, Hakon and Gunnulf. Last wave is the HARDEST. Credits to Giopeppe on steam who helped me.
Just want to let you know my strategy, since it took me a lot of attempts before i found a working strategy to kill the Bellower and don't get him possessed by Eyeless just after .
1st- Iver-lvl10 ;
2nd- Bolverk-lvl10 with +BRK item (Miniature Carving was GREAT)
3rd- Gunnulf-lvl 10
4th- Hakon-lvl10 with the best you could equip him as a damage dealer.
My strategy:
a) On the right side, using Iver and Gunnulf Forge Ahead you need to kill SOMETHING weak
This is needed to let Eyeless possess him, then you just need let her be TRAPPED in that creature an kill Bellower and the rest first;
b) On the left side, keep Bolverk and Hakon positioned just out of Bellower's reach, then use Bolverk's passive to break armor (6-7) and do some STR damage. Use Hakon to damage his STR further, keep your heroes safe from the big ones and, in the next turn, you should be able to kill Bellower letting Iver/Krumr give a hand or just with Bolverk double attack;
c) Kill the rest except Eyeless and avoid to be killed or crippled too much;
Hope it helps.

Can you offer some advice on how to beat Level 33? Eyeless poisons my people, and I can't reach the singers, and they all just drop dead. I don't know how I can actually kill them if I can't walk up to them, given the varl issue of no ranged weapons.

A)Thanks for answering :)
B)My problem was I wasn't seeing the ability to even walk my troops up to where the singers are. As if I needed to wait for them to walk down to me, which is no bueno when I am poisoned. Am I just blind spotting the place I can walk up and chop them?

*MISSABLE* While you need to choose six characters at the start, you may field only four in every battle, so remove the extra two before entering battle. For the first dozen or so battles, I used expendable bait along with Bolverk, Iver and Gunnulf, before finally adding Hakon as my permanent fourth.
Three of these guys can get Forge Ahead, which will greatly aid you along. If you use Bolverk, you should nine out of ten times open with armour break, to give his second attack (which will always attack strength) more punch. A Break item like Miniature Carving will work wonders on him.
