How to unlock the Shieldmaiden achievement in The Banner Saga 2 - Definitive Guide

I unlocked this by following the storyline, somewhere between 30-60 minutes into the campaign. I do not know if there is a quicker way of unlocking this achievement so if you know of one, please comment below and I will amend this solution.

At the beginning of chapter 9, when you take control of Bolverk, You can choose to fight Mogun, in this battle you’ll get the use of 3 new fighters Simply Kill 3 enemies with Folka

You can, after you’ve popped this Achievement, reload the last save and repeat with the other two new fighter types

Folka will join your party automatically in Chapter 9.
