How to unlock the Quartermaster achievement in The Banner Saga - Definitive Guide
Make use of this guide to see the outcomes of random events: http://hubpages.com/games-hobbies/The-Banner-Saga-Walkthroug...
make sure you choose options giving you supplies and not increasing your day count.
At the start of chapter 4, you'll need supplies for around 12-14 days to make it to Wyrmtoe, and they coast a lot where you start, make sure you've enough renown, otherwise you've to hope for some really good additional random events.
You can even pair this achievement with
Also, for after getting to Wyrmtoe, stock up on the higher ratios before Einartoft. It is at least 20 days travel (without resting/stopping) between Einartoft and some town a couple days after sigrholm with a 1:5 renown:supplies ratio (there are come random events and a couple places between that may or may not help though).
I'd suggest that you make sure you have at least 20 days of supplies before leaving Einartoft just to be careful.
Missable!
You should get this in step 1 on Normal.
No need to buy supplies in chapter 1, 2, or 3 though make sure to get supplies through events in chapter 2. In chapter 2 you also must either push open the gate, use the water passage, or meet with the supply cart (not ambush), and then agree to work with Ekkill. In chapter 4, after the initial battle, Onef will then agree to help you and you merely need to accept. Make sure you choose to get all the supplies.
As you move from location to location, you can see how many days worth of food you have available at the top of the screen. Before leaving any camp, make sure you buy their entire stock of food, and don't rest there as it will use up your food before even starting the journey. There are a number of Random Events that can take place during your journey that can either help or harm you. When one occurs, refer to the link to decide how to handle it. Since you will likely be coupling this achievement with "Forced March" you will want to select outcomes that do not increase your day count, and ones that do increase your supply count (both at once if possible).
The trickiest part of this is when leaving Frostvellr at the beginning of Chapter 4. You do not have enough supplies to get there, and the supply cost in the town is astronomical (1:1). If you haven't used much renown (I had 61), you can stock up to 12 days of supplies and make it. Otherwise, you'll have to buy as much as possible and hope for really good random events that will gain you supplies. Reload and earlier save if necessary. When you get to the next town, the supply cost is much better (4:1) and you can stock up with whatever renown you have left.
Because you will not be resting during the journey, your morale will plummet so you can't get this on a run where you want to go for "High Spirits" at the same time. The achievement will unlock when the credits roll.
