How to unlock the He's on fire! achievement in The BIGS - Definitive Guide

This isn't just a pain. It's an exercise in torture. I just got the 10, and got 14 once, and here are a few things to make life a little easier for this achievement:

- Pitcher/Pitches don't matter. I literally throw NOTHING but fastballs, if you're more of a curveball kinda guy, go for it, but it won't make a difference.

- Play as the home team. This way you can start as the fielding team (IE you pitch first).

- THROW BALLS IN ADDITION TO STRIKES. This is a big one. Even if you throw a perfect pitch outside the strike zone, it STILL COUNTS as a perfect pitch. This gives you the opportunity to throw a possible 18 pitches minimum during an inning.

- DO NOT, and I mean NOT count your progress. The closer you get to 10 or 15, the more nervous you get. Hell, I found I always screwed up whenever I said something. Don't worry about it.

- Oh, and good luck.

EDIT - Mere minutes after posting, I got the 15. Yip-pee!

Just wanted to add on the counting thing. This is very true for me. Years ago when I was going for the 15 perfect pitches, I would always count it. I would get nervous at 11 or 12 and mess up. I did it once without even worrying about it and the achievement popped.

It's impossible for me to not count due to the fact that I know how many pitches I have thrown by the time it switches batters. This is torture.

I will have to try this with throwing balls and strikes to get extra pitches in.

just keep at it. One of the more frustrating achievements to get in this game. After enough hours you will suddenly just get into a rhythm and it will pop. Plenty of times you'll get 10+ in a row only to blow it before reaching 15. Once you figure out the timing you can do it with your eyes closed.

For anyone that's still seeking to obtain this, some advice (because lord knows there isn't much you can say that will actually guide you to obtaining this achievement) - if you really pay attention, you'll notice that the timing can differ between pitchers. It isn't a big difference, but after playing through an old AL Rookie save and feeling the differences between Roy Halladay, Johan Santana, Rich Harden, Kenny Rogers (not part of my team, just part of the AL All-Stars) and Jarrod Washburn you start to feel that certain guys take a split-second longer to hit that perfect stride, while others feel as though it comes quicker.

The best advice for this is to get a feel for a pitcher to really begin getting into a rhythm with them.

Also, be aware of all of your habits when pitching so as to keep the momentum - you don't want to change a thing you're doing, so keeping tabs on your ticks and tendencies helps you keep a good rhythm throughout.. Whatever system you used to get five-in-a-row should be a system you keep rolling with for the fifteen. After all, this achievement is all about repetition so you might as well keep in mind your own repetitious habits.

Beyond this, just follow skimaine's solution: just keep at it.

Also, URZAS EL RONIN, I'd suggest going with what's comfortable for you. I found a good enough rhythm with Halladay to mix up pitches and still be effective to obtain the achievement, but dropping the same pitch over and over is a way to go, also.

Ok, by far the hardest achievement in the game is getting all the way to 15 perfect pitches in a row. Getting 3 and 5 should be no problem, and 10 is annoying, but 15 will make you scream. Here are the two best ways of doing this:

Option #1: Start an Exhibition game with your controller on the right side. This way, you get to pitch first. Don't bother aiming the pitch at all, just use the normal fastball and time it right to get the perfect. After a while, you'll get the timing down, it is just a matter of staying calm to do it 15 times. Now, I found it very nice when the other team would hit one of my perfect pitches, because then I could let them get on base and get more of them in one inning, staying "in the zone" longer. Otherwise, you will get 9 perfects (3 per out) and will have to go through your batting before you can pitch again. So don't throw anyone out if they get a hit, it doesn't hurt you. The biggest drawback to this method is that you'll be well aware of how many you have in a row, and when you get close to 15 you'll get nervous and screwup. Enter...

Option #2: Just working on the "Textbook Perfection" achievement, you'll be trying to make sure they don't get hits off you, so you'll be pitching well anyway, but you won't much be paying attention to how many in a row you have. Just focus on getting the batters out and you might randomly have it unlock on you. This option is how I got it, and I was very excited when it finally popped.
