How to unlock the Textbook Perfection achievement in The BIGS - Definitive Guide
Ok... I agree with everyone else that said Johan Santana with AL All Stars is a good pick. However, to make it even easier/faster score a run in the first inning and then bunt down the first base side for the rest of the game. This stops the opponents power meter from ever filling and makes the game go by much faster...so you should never have to worry about boosted hits or power blasts. I did my game just now in 18 minutes. Just try to strike out batters as best you can and manage your boost pitches wisely. I saved my Big Heat until the final batter and took him down.
(If you are going for other achievements other then textbook perfection or penultimate perfection, then obviously this is no good for you. This method is just a way to speed up the process.)

Before you start the game on easy, go to the rosters menu. Then go to trade players. Take any team (I chose the Marlins) and trade off all the good players Like Hanley and Cabrera, for junk players on other teams. I suggest one or two stars Max for contact and power. Do worry about positions, its fine if they cant field the ball. You play with the AL AllStars against your newly created team. When playing never use a power swing because the computer has a 50/50 chance of making a wall leaping catch to give them 25000 points, just beat them with contact swings. During the game they will gain some points. So save your points for "Big Heat" while pitching. When the opponent has half their points bar filled use the "Big Heat" to steal their points. If they fill their bar they will use the "power blast" and hit a home run nomatter what pitch you throw. Use your turbo only when pitching, trust me you will have no problem scoring runs.

Thank you so much for the excellent idea of trading all of those bad players to one team - I didn't even know you could do that! My only other suggestion besides the above would be to just bunt each time when you're up to bat after you get the lead so there's no chance for the computer to get any points from diving catches, double-plays, etc. You can get plenty of turbo from strike outs any way. I had a couple close calls including a deep fly ball in the top of the 9th with 1 out but had my big heat saved for the 27th batter. This was actually a lot easier than I thought - beat it my second try after not touching this game in 2+ years.

The Best Way I believe to do this is use Johan Santana and the NL All Stars and face the Royals on easy this should be easy. You can get this 1 and the no hitter achievement at the same time.

Can you use a 2nd controller for any of these achievements in? Or does it have to be against the CPU because it doesnt stat it has to be the CPU in the achievement discription.

It does state that it must be a single player game, which I would assume means no 2nd player.

The above methods all work - use the AL All Stars against the Royals, Johan Santana. It took me a couple of tries, but here is what I did to make this a little easier.
First off, the trading thing works. I would look for people who have the fewest stars in batting and contact, followed by speed. Really, speed only matters if they make contact.
Also, keep your pitches low to induce ground balls. You may get a few scares from time to time, mine came in the 8th inning where there were a lot of foul balls and everyone eventually put it in play.
Don't get too cute with your pitches. I used a lot of fastballs and a slider to KO the batter, had about 17 strikeouts in the game. I also used turbo only for the 3rd strike and only if my turbo meter was completely full. If it's the third strike in a row, you'll almost fully recover the bar it cost.
In the 1st inning, you want to be the visiting team. You can either start as Ichiro and try to run around the bases (recommended starting off with a double, Jeter bunts, Ortiz flies out) or just change so that your 3 power guys are up front. Either way, no harm in restarting if you don't score the first inning.
In the 9th inning, you want to keep your turbo meter full. On the first batter, use your turbo for the third strike. This should leave you with plenty for turbo on the second batter for all three pitches. Then, use your big heat to finish it off.
If for some reason they are using a turbo at bat, use one of your own.

Basically you can get all the pitching achievements by using a really good pitcher on easy. A good pitcher would be Johan Santana, he has 5 stars for all his pitches
Basically, spam perfect pitches and alternate between pitches and between spots in the box. Just make sure the other team can't even hit off you. If they do get a hit, make sure you throw the runner out or you will have to start over. Use one of the All-Star teams against a crappy tam like the Royals for best results. If you're done the "He's on Fire!" achievement already, this one should be a cakewalk.
