How to unlock the You Need a Gun achievement in The Callisto Protocol - Definitive Guide
The hand cannon is the cheapest and earliest weapon you can fully upgrade. It'll take 2,800 credits to fully upgrade it. I had enough credits for the last upgrade in the mission Habitat.

I’ve also noticed the a lot of the rare achievements don’t pop with a diamond 💎 They’ve been unlocking like an achievement over 10% which is also strange.

Yes it seems like some of the achievements are bugged a little bit. I'm not sure why this one wouldn't unlock, I bought the last upgrade for the hand cannon and it popped once I exited the reforge machine. I just reverted my last save to get my money back and moved on lol

The easiest weapon to do this with is the BI-55 Hand Cannon. This is for a few reasons: 1) it only has four upgrades, 2) those upgrades are cheaper than all the other weapons too. The alternate fire “TK23 Boom Bullets” upgrade, for instance, is only 1800 credits, while one of the top upgrades for the Stun Baton is 2700.
In terms of the best way to get credits. That’s a case of looting everywhere, and sacrificing inventory slots for loot to sell - which is mainly excess syringes, excess ammo and all kinds of sellable goodies and what not. Upgrading your equipment is the key to making the game that bit easier, so regardless of this achievement, you’ll need to do this throughout the game anyway.

Pistol is the cheapest weapon to upgrade. This is the first ranged weapon, unlocked according to the story in Chapter 3. The cost of fully upgrading is 2800 credits, the last upgrade costs 1800 - it’s best to save before upgrading and after receiving the trophy, reload this save to get the credits back and invest them in more powerful weapons (especially when playing on maximum difficulty).

If your trophy is glitched, try my solution to the problem. We find weapons where the slot to the right or left is not pumped up and it is imperative that the very last one is at the beginning of pumping and not at the end, we pump up the weapons from the top of the column to the end without touching the squares on the right and left, now we pump up the right or left one, it worked on two consoles !

I tried the option with “side” pumping according to the advice here, but it didn’t help. This is what helped: you don’t need to delete or reinstall anything, just close the game -> disconnect the console from the Internet (just in the settings, no need to touch the cable/modem) -> open the game -> load autosave before leveling up to the maximum -> buy the final weapon upgrade -> we record the receipt of the trophy.

Obviously a bug in the game due to difficulty (v 1.027), but I did it VERY EASILY: I just saved up the last one cell of 1800 credits to upgrade the gun, paused the game, set the difficulty to MEDIUM, upgraded the gun to the maximum - the trophy fell out. I set the difficulty back to maximum security and reloaded the checkpoint. I was still nearby near this machine (shop) and it only took me 1 minute.
