In the prologue: when Sam opens the grate inside the mill put faith into Tom and keep him from drinking. Later after Chris invited Robert to the group, you'll find a cassette tape. Play it on the nearby player to learn what happened with Tom's alcohol addiction. The achievement will unlocks once you heard the tape and leave the player.
