How to unlock the A Midsummer Knight's Thieve achievement in The Cave - Definitive Guide
This is rewarded for finishing the knight's puzzle.
Quick step guide through the maze (beware of spoilers!) (without getting all the artworks! This is just the solution of the puzzle)
- Go down the long gap with fire with the knight's special ability.
- Go to the left to get your mission.
- Go all the way to the right, the first gate opens and you're standing in a courtyard.
- Climb your way up to the princess and again listen to what she tells you to do.
- Now to go and win the princess! Climb or jump down (your special ability makes you immune to falling dammage), go to the right, down the rope, and again to the right (destination: the princesses sleeping chambers).
- Up the rope, up the ladder. You're now in the castle. Ignore the guard on the right (who protect's the key to the dragon) and climb up the ladder just left of him.
- Go up the steps, ignore the guard on the right (protects dynamite). Go up the steps (ignore the rope that leads up the the princess) and stand right on the elevator. Activate your special ability and switch to one of your other characters.
- Have that character walk the exact route again through the castle all the way to the elevator but he has to activate it (lever above).
- Stop the elevator at level 2. The guard who protects the dragon's key will now shoot your knight. BUT... he has the special ability, so he won't die.
- The guard being distracted you can go down again and get the dragon's key.
- No go down again and quit the castle. Now go all the way to the right and down the rope and ladder again to get to the locked door which holds back the dragon. You can open the door already, but stand still afterwards.
- Switch to the knight. Go down to the castle and follow the path to the left (destination: dragon). Go down that long rope, jump over the gap.
- Jump over that pile of dead bodies and to the dragon. Get close quickly and activate very quickly your special ability.
- The dragon's distracted! Switch to your other character (you should be standing be the opened door), take the gold and escape up the rope and ladder again (destination: castle).
- The gold in hand you can now have your character open the princesses chamber but... oh! What to discover!
- Either way, you earned the medaillon from the maiden. Have your knight take this medaillon and transport it all the way to the left again to the king (you have to fall down the fire pit again with your special ability).
- Thou shall try to pull excalibur out of the stoneth... Meh.
- Leave the kinght where he is. Take on of your other characters. Have him take some dynamite out of the castle (the second guard is gone now). Now go down again the rope, down the castle). Now go all the way to the left (destination: cemetery/bone yard room).
- Your goal is to light the dynamite and place it onto the big grave. This will destroy many of the rocks above.
- Now there is no problem pulling exalibur out of the stone anymore. Pull it out and you're good to go! Puzzle solved.
