How to unlock the Meeting New People achievement in The Crew - Definitive Guide

The achievement description is misleading.
I got the achievement by the time i got the ingame award (press the left stick while watching the map und press RB until you see your awards - you can see your progress there) for 5000 players.

To clear things up:
Ok, i try to explain (my game is German, so I don't know the exact names for everything):
Go to the tab at the bottom (something like 'misc'). Then browse to 'crew' and then choose 'cooperative'.
The last icon in the second row is 'meeting new people'.
Here you can check your progress towards the achievement with the same name ;)

I got the achievement while doing a mission. Hence i think you must not actually see the other players in the game but they must be in the same session.

I havn´t played this game for a long time. If they didn´t patch it in the meantime you will still need to 'meet' 5000 players ;)

Trying to finish this in late 2020. Is this for 5000 different people?

It definitely is 5,000. When I check 'The Crew club' - - > 'Progress' - - > 'Stats' - - > 'Total number of players met' it says 2,210. When I check the in-game stats, it says my progress is 44%. Extrapolating up, that's 5,000

Its still possible I started this year but it’s not pretty ,
Had to stay afk for 25/30hs in front on a HQ to get it after everything else in the game , it unlocked when Xbox stats said 8518 players met.. not 2k nor 5k but 8,5k..

My Xbox stats tracker has to be broken… By the time this unlocked it was reading 55,634 total players met. Still obtainable in December 2021 though!

And that isn’t a typo, 55k is what it’s telling me in the Xbox stats. 😂

As of July 2023, this achievement will likely take between 150-250 hours. I had my console on about 24 hrs a day for about 2 weeks, and it would idle when I was sleeping and at work.

I started this game two days ago Im at 8% from 5000, thats 400 in two days of playing, i think its realistic to meet 5000 people until the server closure.

I agree with Matt, as I’m at 14% just after two days of starting this game. It was the weekend mind you, but it definitely feels promising for anyone starting this game within the next few weeks to be able to snag this achievement no problem.

This shouldnt be true since i'm at 61% and still dont have the Achievement. My guess is that the ingame Tracker actually shows the progress for 2000 people.

So according to statistics I have now met 12k people and it shows 61%. So I see a realistic target number of meeting 20k people.

I'm outside the Detroit HQ as suggested above, "waiting for the customers" to pass by. Can I let the game roll and be away from controller without risking a disconnection? Or is there a timer, making us impossible to idle quietly? I can put a rubberband neither as it's not took in consideration, I still have the "cutscene" showing our car from every angle possible, just like without a rubberband.

And I see people here giving amounts of their meetings. I just see a percentage (10%), where do I see the exact number, please? Thanks.

You can get the number of people if you briefly press the Xbox button and select the 3rd item “Statistics” in the 4th tab “Gameplay”.
And scroll down again to the 6th point “Total players hit”.
But it will be significantly more than 20k. I'm now at 19715 which corresponds to 85%. So, I'll get it finished in 2023.

I can't find the path you gave me, Wolfi. I think you lost me from the "Xbox button" part. Are you talking about the Xbox Guide button? The only "statistics" place I find is in-game => Back (to open the map) => LS (to open a menu) => RB to reach the Statistics tab. But can't find "Gameplay or "Total players hit". My game is in French, but can't see anything close to the keyworks you quoted.

To (almost) answer my previous comment, I've plugged my autofire gamepad (I didn't get that warning message telling that "third party brand accessories" aren't compatible anymore *phew*), and I auto-press the hand brake button, so I stay active without moving at all, so I never go idle. Great. I'll see tomorrow if my % get progress this way.

I mean the guide button. If you press long you come in the menu to restart your box, turn off, turn off controller. And if you press it normal you come in the menu, which I wrote above. It's the same register where you can check your achievements.

So, I finally unlocked it today. According to Xbox counter with 26.5k players hit, but this is not relevant as it doesn't match compared to the increase in percentage. But I had the feeling that constantly quitting and restarting the game accelerated progress.

I just sat outside the Detroit garage and left my controller AFK, and just moved my controller every 15 minutes. Racked up a lot of players even at this point in the games life. Eventually popped after AFK'ing for a few different days

Anyone still looking to boost this, we've been doing it at the stunt park just south-east of Chicago. You can simply idle or rubber band your controller to dive into the water. The more people who show up each day, the faster it will go.

AFK Method is rubbish, keep quitting to menu and reloading, gaining approx 7-10% per hour. As soon as the tags appear you're good to quit

@ Twistah, I came on here to post this exact same finding. I got 5% in 30 minutes by simply parking my car on the square stunt area where people are jumping into water and quitting out and coming back in. Way faster. I also didn't see any increase in the water method. Hopefully this will help others before the servers close.

First of all, this is NOT for meeting 5000 people and this is not buggy. Nowhere in the game is this 5000 number mentioned. TA's stats are wrong and it will mislead people.

To give people a rough idea of how long this may take if you're starting from scratch, I've been playing through this in April of 2020 and this is one of my last achievements. I played through about 120 hours of the game without actively going for this achievement and my progress was around 83%. I just started sitting by the HQ in Detroit, hitting my controller every 10 minutes or so to prevent myself from being kicked, and I was able to go up anywhere between 1%-3% every hour. Just something to keep in mind if you're thinking of starting the game.

Do not use The Crew social stats in the Xbox club app. I don't know what is different about that stat vs the award tracker in game, but what matters is the award tracker in game. If it says 99%, then you have 1% to go, period. I'm guessing that the in-game award tracks people you are near in the same game session, while the club app tracks a much wider net somehow (perhaps people who are on your map but not in the same session, or maybe just not near enough to you to be counted).

That said, the fastest way, as has been mentioned above, seems to be to just idle as much as possible in Detroit by the HQ. I personally would play a game on my PlayStation and periodically press LS to honk the horn on my Xbox controller and check to make sure I was still connected from time to time. Using this method, you can get this achievement in 2-3, maybe 4 weeks, depending on how much time you spend in game each day.

Weekends will give you more progress than weekdays. It seems possible to get 5-10% on a weekday, maybe up to 15% if you're on a long time, and 10-30% on the weekend, maybe more, again, if on a long time that weekend. If you can overlap prime game time with time zones around Europe and Asia, even better.

Some of you didn't read my comment above from 13th of February, 2022. The Awards are what matter, not the statistics. Look at the matching award for the achievement and that will tell you what your progress is. The statistics are tracking a completely different statistic than what you seem to think it is.

Go to the map, press in the left stick, then use the bumbers to navigate to the awards page. From there, locate the award for this achievement. I don't recall exactly where it's located, but that's what matters.

If your awards ever get stuck, or reset to 0%, you're screwed. That means you have a glitched award/save (which is saved with Ubisoft, not locally on your Xbox), and that means you will be unable to complete said achievement. This game is known to have glitchy achievements that can get locked out, such as Extra Mile, specifically those tied to an Award.

To get this achievement you must see 2,000 different gamer tags pop up on your screen that are in your area of playing.

You can check the progress towards the achievement in the Map Menu- push the left thumbstick down to bring up the tabs menu- Go to awards and down to Crew- select this with A and go to Cooperation- Here go to the one with the Question mark. It'll track the percentage of people you've met. To get how many you have and need to just multiply the 2,000 times the percentage. The equation will be 2,000 x .56 (56%) = total you've collected. Fast way to get this is going to city to city and drive from top to bottom to discover new players in that area. Each percentage is 20 players you've discovered. The TA stats for this came are not correct, it'll say you've seen 4 to 5k people when you haven't so don't go by that.

This has nothing to do with the achievement, but is there any way to hide the gamer tags that pop up on screen? I find it distracting when I am in free drive.

You should update this solution. The achievement is for 5k players and not 2k. The developers messed up the description so TA's stats are correct when it comes to 'players you've met'.

You can track this achievement by going onto Awards > Crew > Cooperation > 8th icon (its a question mark logo)

Anyone looking to boost this, we've been doing it at the Square shaped orange stunt park top right just south-east of Chicago. You can simply idle or rubber band your controller to dive into the water. The more people who show up each day, the faster it will go.

Big groups here constantly holding RT driving into river and respawning.

Boostable method:

There is a somewhat boostable method to this, and there doesn't seem to be anyone that's posted about it so here it goes, you can gain 2-4% per hour using the method below:

Simply put, you gain percentage towards this every time you load into the game. This can be abused easily by constantly re-loading into the game while at the Stunt Park, which is located somewhere between Detroit and Chicago. (At the very southern point of what should be Lake Michigan). It's orange and looks like a skatepark with ramps and loops along the waterfront. There are usually a lot of people AFK here at this location, which makes it the perfect place for this method.

Now if you keep doing this repeatedly, you'll notice that not all of the time you'll be in the game with the same people. I've heard this be referred to as "being in a different instance" in the game as somebody else. So your mileage may vary every time you reboot the game. Sometimes you'll get +5 or whatever the amount of people around you is when you load back up, and sometimes there will be 0 people around you. Just restart, you'll get people more times than not.

One Step Further:

Now you want to take this method a step further you say? Yeah. I got you. If you can double box, then this will be perfect. Otherwise, a friend who is about to go AFK is your other option.

1) Have your alt/friend go to the Stunt Park.
2) Make sure the instance your alt/friend is in has a lot of people around them.
3) Have your alt/friend invite you to their Crew.
4) Accept Crew invite on your main.
5) Now your alt or friend can AFK at the Stunt Park.
6) Fast travel to them if you're not already at the Stunt Park as well
7) Repeat the rebooting method!

Now take note, even after setting up the "One Step Further" method, you can still load into the game and not have anyone around you even though you and your alt are in the same location. "Being in the same instance" is still in play here. This method just increases your chances of loading up into the same instance as your alt/friend that's around the most people in one instance.

AFK Method:

1) Grab a wired controller
2) Fast travel to Stunt Park
3) Face the water
4) Tie rubber band to your right trigger
5) ???
6) Profit!!

I hope this helps you server closure chasers. This method should be useful to those who have beaten the game and are just AFK'ing for this achievement.

Encountering players implies that you have driven near another human player or another player has driven near you, and therefore this will come naturally as you play through the game.
