How to unlock the Overclocker achievement in The Crew - Definitive Guide

This was my last achievement in the game to get and was only at 61% while I had everything else done, I actually found this guide on another forum and can confirm the method works fine and I got the achievement using it.

1- Go to eagle speed drome
2- Get up to max speed in your chosen car
3- While holding the accelerator hit the options button and go to HQ
4- Hit A To go to workshop and in demo mode rubber band the RT button down
5-Every 10/15mins hit nos to stop you from being kicked for inactivity

If you wish you can come out of HQ and check your progress. The thing I found is that you have to be moving at speed when you initially go into HQ as when I tried it and car is 0mph the odometer doesn't change neither does the award progress.

Hopefully this helps some people out, thanks!

Very good guide.
Am having to press A every 10 minutes or get kick for inactivity.
Am averaging about 200 miles progress an hour.
Thank you for finding this method.

Thank you for your reply and I'm glad the method is working for you.
I did the exact same as you and pressed the A button every so often and kept it running.
From 60% this method was great in getting me the award/achievement unlocked.

Would you still have to press A if you, rubber banded the joysticks too?
Last achievement looking to make it less painful :D

I did try the rubber band but sadly it will disconnect you even if you do this, you still have to press A.
It's a shame because that would have made this even better.

That is great I'm glad it is still helping people.
This achievement is quite grinding so it's good that there is a way to sort of get it quicker.
Let's hope there isn't a similar achievement in The Crew 2 laugh

Can someone confirm if the max speed of a car is crucial for getting faster progress towards the miles/km? Because my car with the most km on is at 3.500km and has a max speed of 260km/h. If I would use my dragster with a max speed over 500km/h and 200km total would it still be faster to reach the 8.000km?

I've managed to get this to work with a turbo band to idle. Once you get to step 4 to rubber band down RT activate turbo on that button and leave it as long as you want. I tried to turbo boost however that didn't seem to work.

do the math: 4500 / 260 = ~17h of grinding at top speed
7800 / 500 = ~15h of grinding at top speed

I got tired of the glitchy game resetting my odometer so I just did all 5000 miles in one run. I went to Little Eagle Speedway and just drove around the track topped out at about 240mph. It took about 30 hours.. Helps a lot to snap Netflix or Hulu so its not so boring haha

It just shows your highest percent. Like one night I put a ton of miles on my car and it was at 25% and the next night I got on and my miles where 0 but that award still read 25%. Once I passed the 25% mark again then it started going up

If the data was saved on the system, resets wouldn't be an issue. If you're going to delay a game for nearly a year, and come out with these problems (especially ones that still persist over a month after release), it's genuinely worrying. Stupid Ubisoft and their sub-par servers angry

Theres a trick you can do but you'll still have to drive all the miles yourself. When you can pay just drive around the little eagle speedrome and when you have to stop playing for the day just start up a solo story mission.. Once it starts pause the mission and go to bed or whatever. Then when you can play again just unpause and go back to the speedrome for more miles

I'm going to give everyone here the best method of doing this in my opinion as you only have to pay attention for a second every 6 minutes rather than driving yourself around a track for 20 hours.

1st off - top up your circuit spec car - i got mine to 1359 by redoing jump skill 23 near Washington about 80 times (20 secs each) - throw on a podcast or a movie.

2nd - go to the bonneville salt flats. There's a summit marker in the middle that you'll be doing a circle around. Fast travel near there - not directly on it.

3rd - Looking at the map with North at the top, you're going just past the summit marker at the 7 o clock position. get some elastics to hold your trigger and left stick in these positions. I found some of my gf's leftover hair elastics that worked great. I double wrapped the left stick to keep it tight and wrapped it around the back notch. The trigger was easy - just wrap it to the bottom of the right hand where you palm normally goes.

4th - You're going to want to make sure the acceleration is all the way in and rotating the left stick enough to get your speed to stay constant around 200 mph. My car could go as fast as 250 without nitrous but i found the sweet spot to be 200 mph to keep you going in a constant circle and not hitting any objects. I found i could go for a while at higher speeds so this can be at your discretion but found I never had a problem with 200 mph and it won't add too much more time to doing this. Hit up on the d-pad and make sure you're not going over any roads throughout your circle.

5th - this is the hardest part of the ordeal because its extremely annoying - set a timer on your phone to go off every 6-10 minutes. To keep from your session from being idle, hit the a (nitrous) button for as little effect as possible. That's all that you need to remain in the session. Now, if you're doing this from scratch, this will take 25 hours at 200 mph. You don't have to do this in one session - i myself started this endeavour with 1500 miles on the odometer and did this over multiple days while watching movies, tv shows, documentaries that I was going to watch anyway.

6th - don't be discouraged if you have to reset your car. Once i figured out my groove to this, it was a relatively minor ordeal to reset the car's position. You're going to crash multiple times as theres two random groups of stationary trailers and cars you may hit. You're going to forget to set the timer, or forget to prevent your session from going idle. You can reset your car even with the elastics remaining on the controller. There are also some people who hit your car as there is a drag strip with a skill challenge going through your circle and there were times when there were as many as 6 other players in the vicinity of my circle and they hit me a couple times (accidently or on purpose). Don't get discouraged at the start if its not working. Keep messing around with it until you get your own sweet spot and from there it's extremely simple.

As of February 12th, the glitch that resets the odometer has been fixed. I can confirm this myself. As mentioned already, this is best attempted on the Little Eagle Speedway.

This achievement roughly takes approximately 25hrs (200 miles an hour.)

I did this achievement entirely in the 2009 Mercedes SL65 AMG (Circuit - level 1289) across 3 days. The car would achieve 255mph normally and 270mph whilst drafting.

Having a partner to do parts of this with will make the process slightly quicker as you're able to draft them back and forth thus achieving a greater top speed along the straights.

Another tip, if you're coming across some other playing trying to crash into you head on, then just before you think you're about to crash, simply press the back button to go to the map, your vehicle will become invisible (ghost status) and so the opponent will drive right through you, immediately return to the game and you will still be on track with the same speed as when you paused.

Good luck.

When I tried to do it, tree douches wanted to stop me from driving for about thirty minutes. They blocked the road and they tried to wreck my car (it was really annoying to drive with them).
However I finally manage to do it in our run, just like Hoff 07 in Little Eagle Speedway.

If I can give you an advice, I would say that you should do it with friends (one or two) because you can get speed from them and it will be more fun.

I got it without having to do in one sitting, but I also got it before there were too many glitches. Would have to agree with the speedway being the fastest way to get it. Yes there a lot of A holes that like to take you down there but if you hit the back button before they hit they drive right thru and when you start again you are going to same speed and are still on track. Little time consuming but better than watching crash film then restarting with no speed.

23 Jan 2015 17:20

I recommend driving circles in the Bonneville salt flats. I used a toothpick to jam my thumbstick and a rubber band to keep it accelerating. Now you cannot idle boost this, you have press a different button or wiggle the other thumbstick every 10 minutes or so.
I recommend using a phone charger / micro usb cable to keep the controller from draining batteries or turning off.

I hit about 360-370 km/h any faster and my car would make too big of a turncircle and eventually crash. To detect this, leave your vibration on. If it vibrates slightly and a little bit you're fine, but if it's more than 3 times in a row or an intense vibration than you'll have to correct or restart circling.

I did this today as Netflix uploaded an entire season so I could watch that on a different channel of my tv.

Also if you've hit the number but didn't get the achievement yet, pull over wink

Here's my little guide for overclocker. There is no easy or fast way to get this achievement, but then look how high the TA ratio is - it's a tough one! I didn't want to just grind around a track for hours as that's some major boring sh#t, so I decided to just clock those miles up in the very first street spec car I aquired. I went for the 2012 Dodge Challenger as it was the fastest and hardest to control vehicle on offer - I knew it would serve me well and it did.
I did not buy any cars whatsoever until I had completed all the story missions, but I did take the time to collect the hidden car parts for the buggy and the hup one circuit spec car.
I tried to drive absolutely everywhere in the street spec challenger, and by the time I had been to all the landmarks, completed all skills to at least gold, and done the very tedious 200 laps of little eagle I was up to over 3000 miles in that one car. Plus it was lvl 1299 by that point and I was so damn good at driving it I was regularly beating much "better" street spec cars in PVP using it. By the time I did need to buy a faster car to stay competitive in PVP, I had 3.5 million bucks saved because I simply hadn't bought anything. So my first purchase was the konigsegg, and I bought all the platinum upgrades for it to make it 1299 and barely dented my cash. I am currently at a shade under 4000 miles now, but it has been much more interesting than days and days of driving around little eagle. If I had to just grind it out I would have given up weeks ago.

This trophy, as stated, requires the mileage on a single car/spec to reach 5000. If you're planning on collecting the other trophies anyway, then it's recommended that you try and use the same car for everything. The best choice would be a circuit car, so you have the option of either doing the Salt Flats back and forth, or repeating the Little Eagle Speedrome.

Alternatively, there's a little trick/exploit to make this easier. Find a long open spot (aforementioned places work) and your fastest car, and reach a high a speed as possible. Once you're at your max speed, while keeping acceleration held down, press Options and press the 'Go to HQ' button from that menu. While in there, the game thinks you're still driving -- Meaning all you have to do is flick the stick once every 10-15 minutes to stop yourself from getting kicked due to being idle. This strategy saves an absurd amount of time. Even if you manage to get your car to 400kph when you enter the HQ, it'll still take 20 hours!

Unfortunately, this does not work for the offroad trophy; the game considers the HQ as road, meaning you'll have to farm that one yourself.

17 Apr 2017 02:04

This is one of the longest achievements in the game. It is recommended that you choose a Circuit car to attempt this achievement in. You can do this in multiple ways; drive on the highways around the map in loops, or run laps on the Little Eagle Speedrome (roughly 1700 laps for 5000 miles) or you can rubber band your controller so your car does a continuous drift or do-nut in an open area, meaning you can be AFK for this method but it will take much longer.
