How to unlock the Ghost Signal achievement in The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes - Definitive Guide
I dedicated an entire playthrough to this one and finally figured it out. This one is comparable to the "Odd Couple" achievement/trophy from Little Hope in the same way that you need a lot of ground work to make this happen. This one can also be combined with "Climbing out of hell, into the sunset, and no time to bleed" For "Climbing out of hell" you just need to alter your conversations with Rachel via Nick and Eric so they are all negative all the time. Make sure to put Rachel and Nick's relationship on ice at the very beginning.
Ghost Signal steps in order:
One constant I had was to have Eric be mean to everyone all the time.
1. Deny Air Support - "Confident"
2. "Disapprove" of "White Phosphorus" grenades
3. Kill Merwin early via suffocation. 3-QTEs
4. When Rachel and Eric are about to listen to the tape, tell him there is Someone Else via "Detached" and then "Solemn"
5. When searching for Joey, have Jason be "Assertive" about taking the lead
6. When Eric asks about what happened to Joey, select "Disapproving" and then "Foreboding". *Eric should then threaten Nick with the gun.
May or may not be important but I picked up the medkit.
7. After Salim and Nick kill the vampire, don't let Eric know about Salim via "Cautious" and then "Casual".
Also may or may not be important but I did not pick up the stake from the corpse
8. "Abandon" Clarice over the gap
9. After Rachel is reunited with the group, choose the "Solemn" option.
*Eric should then punch Nick.
10. Have Rachel "Fire" the turret.
11. During the Assault, have Salim shoot the monster attacking Rachel.
12. Eric will automatically save Nick from the Ancient One (which will be your only positive increase between them) which will result in Eric getting caught himself. When you switch to Rachel, don't help Eric via "Escape"
13. When Eric, Nick, and Rachel are running from the Ancient One, Nick will get cornered. Have Eric "Run"
14. At this point, the 3 of them will settle up their relationship status. Rachel chooses Nick. Eric will then pick "Shocked" and then "Furious".
*Eric will then storm off.
15. During the Vault, when Nick is placing the explosives, you can pass or fail the first QTE. Choose the "Advance" option and then you have to pass all 3-QTEs. Nick will then set off the flare, Jason will hit the detonator. Nick will then wake up and ask for help and Eric will automatically ignore it for the Achievement/Trophy.

+1 clear solution and easy to follow.

After multiple playthroughs, I finally have the solution to getting this annoying achievement.
For this achievement, you must have Eric not respond to the radio signal when Nick calls for help after planting the explosives near the end of the game.
First off, you want to make sure that Eric has a bad relationship between both Nick and Rachel, and if you want to be extra cautious I would try and have Eric have a bad relationship with everyone. I personally had Nick and Jason have a good relationship along with Jason and Salim also having a good relationship (don’t know if that matters though).
Anyways, I’ll list the options I chose to get this achievement. Note that there is probably some other options you can choose to still arrive at this achievement, but this is what I personally chose and bear with me, this is my first time writing an achievement guide.
And I’m not entirely sure if this is necessary for some dialogue options to appear when you are playing as Jason later in the game when you are with Eric and Nick, but Merwin might need to die. He died in my playthrough, so to be safe you should have him killed too. Also, I had it to where everyone was still alive at the part where you plant the explosives as Nick near the end of the game, but I’m not entirely sure if that’s completely necessary.
Alright, let’s get started.
In the beginning of the game when you first start playing as Rachel, make sure to tell Nick that you’ll tell Eric about their relationship. And when you start playing as Eric right after when you get to the debriefing room, make sure to first decline bringing air support on the mission and then to examine the white phosphorus on the table and also decline bringing them on the mission.
Later on when you fall into the ruins and resume playing as Eric and Rachel, make sure to be as negative as you can towards each other. And when you are listening to the tape recorder in the temple a bit later on when playing as Rachel, make sure to tell Eric that there is someone else now when they are talking about their relationship.
A bit later on after Eric has to cut the rope and Rachel falls, he’ll encounter Jason and Nick again. When they end up going through a tunnel and you are playing as Jason, make sure to tell Eric that you are “taking the lead.” When you return to them again in a few minutes after playing as Salim, you’ll now be playing as Nick. Make sure at this point to tell Eric to be quiet and then pick the option where you tell him “if you say so”. Some other people have commented that they had to pick the opposite dialogue option here and that Merwin being alive could change some dialogue options. In any case, just make sure that Eric threatens Nick with his gun. And it’s ok if you have to restart the chapter at this point if you mess up because it’s right at the start anyways.
And this part might not matter but I’m not entirely sure, but when you start playing as Jason shortly after returning to the temple, you may get the option to tell Nick to confess to Eric about his relationship with Rachel just before planting the explosives. Do NOT choose that option if you see it.
A little later on after fixing or not fixing the radio, you’ll head back into the temple and Rachel will soon follow you back in. Make sure to have Clarice either abandoned or killed at this point. Anyways, choose the negative dialogue options once Rachel starts talking to Eric (don’t be sympathetic here) and then Eric should then punch Nick.
Once you arrive at the sacrificial chamber and have to hold out against the monsters with Salim and Dar and the rest of the gang, eventually Nick will be grabbed by The Ancient One and Eric will save him with the UV light. It seems that this cannot be avoided no matter what, unless maybe in curators mode. When Eric saves him, Eric will then be grabbed. When you switch to Salim, make sure to save Rachel from the monster. After that, you’ll then switch to Rachel and you will have the option to save Eric. Choose the option not to and escape instead. And I’m not sure if this affects anything, but I made sure that Rachel did NOT get infected.
After playing as Samir for a little bit, you will eventually resume control as Eric and you will be running away from The Ancient One with Nick and Rachel. You will get to a point where The Ancient One corners Nick. Choose to run instead of helping. If for some reason they decide to hide instead, fail the heartbeat section and then Nick should still be cornered.
In the next area, Rachel will then choose between being in a relationship with Eric or Nick. She should choose Nick if you picked all the right options as I have listed them. And make sure as Eric to choose the “you’re choosing him?” and then “how can you do this?” options. Nick should then laugh and say “no hard feelings.” Rachel will be with Nick at this point of course as Eric storms off.
Now when you get to the part where you are playing as Nick and have to go and plant the charges near the end of the game in the vault with the cocoons, fail the first heartbeat section to make this part a bit faster. After planting the first set of explosives, choose to advance to plant the next set of explosives and then pass the 3 heartbeat sections. Nick should then go boom boom and when he tries calling for help, Eric should ignore the radio signal and the achievement should then unlock.
I hope this guide helps you all!

I just wanted to point out that it seems like Merwin needs to die before making it to the temple. Merwin being alive affected my playthrough severely for this achievement. Since Merwin is brought to Eric. Eric is sort of tasked with watching over him while Jason and Nick explode the tunnel and plant the mines. At the point where Eric comes up behind Jason and Nick the dialogue options are different. Eric says his I'm in charge bit, then tells Jason to stay behind with Merwin while Eric and Nick go look for Joey. Jason's available dialogue options are to say "No Nick and I will go" or "understood sir." When "No Nick and I will go" is chosen Eric says "You know what can happen when you disobey orders."(Paraphrased) And Jason replies I've got bigger sh*t to deal with."(Paraphrased) Then Eric just mumbles well f* you then while they walk away. Which I believe is a negative towards Jason if it is even a negative at all. So the whole Eric pulling a gun on Nick never happens
I decided to not continue on with this playthrough as it appears the gun on Nick part may be crucial to completing this achievement.

Do you remember if Nick and Eric's relationship bar was very low? Is it enough to be a little low?
By BajerKR on 28 Oct 2021 07:04
This is one of two trophies tied to the relationship level between Eric and Nick, and can be a bit of a pain if you don't start working on it early enough. First, you need to get the relationship level between Eric and Nick very low (anything near 50% won't be good enough). Whenever you have the option of helping Nick as Eric, don't, and be as antagonistic as possible at every opportunity. Next, when Nick is setting the dynamite charges at the cocoons, have him choose to go to the largest mound at the end, rather than retreat. Complete the QTEs, and eventually the charges will detonate. Nick will radio everyone saying he's still alive, and if you've successfully ruined the relationship between Eric and Nick, you'll have the option of ignoring Nick for the trophy.

1. Eric and Nick must be on bad terms (constantly quarrel, don’t help each other, you can also play as Rachel and reject Eric in favor of Nick).
2. When Nick goes to plant explosives in the hive, move deeper and complete all qte.
3. After the explosion, playing as Eric, when he receives a signal from Nick, tell Rachel that it is just interference.

100% getting the trophy! checked it myself
- refuse to take air support
- search phosphorus shells and prohibit them from being taken
- do not save the radio operator who is suspended in a cave, complete all QTEs and you will strangle him
- at the time of the massacre in the hall, Salim saves Rachel, she will help Eric, and then let the vampire warrior kill Rachel with a spear
- when the vampire warrior and the transformed Rachel are chasing Nick and Ekrik, do not help each other.
- a little later you will be able to blame Nick for everything as Eric (this scene is the trigger for 100% success)
- then you get to the moment of planting the bomb, complete all the QTEs, go deeper, there is a mine, an explosion, and Nick says that this is a ghost signal.

You need to make at least -3 red arrows between Eric and Nick, easy to do according to the hint below, the first two in the first chapter, prohibiting the use of grenades and going without air support and one minus during the game, for example, blaming Rachel for the death.

We do the following:
- Phosphorus and support can be taken.
- For Rachel, I admitted to Eric that I have someone else.
- Rachel must definitely fly away from the spear during the massacre in the hall.
- After the massacre, when the converted Rachel and the man with the spear run towards Nick and Eric, Eric must escape without helping Nick.
“You should definitely blame Nick for Rachel’s death.”
I had one positive and one negative in the relationship between Nick and Eric.
