How to unlock the Until Death Do Us Part achievement in The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes - Definitive Guide

Missable achievement - you have to fulfill several conditions
(If you do not want any spoilers stop reading here!)

1. I believe the achievement "Illuminating Evidence" (Eric discovered the unexpected effects of the UV wand) is required for this. I also made a guide for this achievement so check it out wink

2. In the "Sacrificial Chamber" sequence (after you entered into chamber with Salim and his Capitan) you will do something like "Last man standing" you will change between characters, there will be a moment when you play as Salim (after the Human-Vampyre is holding Nick) and you will get a choice to shoot a flying demon in Salim's direction or shoot demon who attacks Rachel, shoot the Demon who is flying in your direction. Because of this decision Rachel will get infected! - this is first condition.

3. Eric CAN NOT die before this sequence with chamber with strange antique musical instrument in the middle, also CAN NOT lose his UV wand (I believe it's possible).

4. Close to the end of the game you will eventually end up in chamber (All members regroup in small area with this strange antique musical instrument in the middle). After Rachel helped Salim with this antique musical instrument she will start transforming into one of the demons / vampires NOW IMPORTANT CHOICES:
1 - When she will want to detonate herself with knife and grenade do not press anything!! Time will pass and she will give up with this idea.
2 - While Eric and Nick are holding here you have to choose "Do not kill me" and "Its me Jason" when Jason is aiming in Rachel's direction.
3 - This will eventually end up with a fight with Jason (You have to press cn_X a few times in order to disarm him). After you do that you have the last choice - you CAN NOT agree with coccon idea. Rachel will escape.

5. When they are climbing the rope Rachel will attack and now its your choice, I chose to die as Eric in order to do that mess up all QTE as Nick and Eric. If you chose to kill BE CAREFULL because there is also the chance that Nick will kill Rachel AND ACHIEVEMENT WILL NOT POP

Oh, just to say, to get dead infected Rachel, have ancient warrior kill her with the spear.

May depend on status of Clarice...I rescued her with Rachel, but after unlocking certain achievements, I went back and had Jason shoot Clarice dead. Sorry for going on here, but it's got complicated! After Clarice's death and Rachel saves Eric, the ancient warrior can kill and infect Rachel.

Got the achievement by killing Rachel alone at the ropes. Eric didn’t have to die. I let Balathu infect her after killing her and then got all QTEs until she left. She showed back up at the ropes and Eric cut her off his rope. No other death required!

Did she not show up with balathu, shortly after he kills and infects her? Precedes a keep calm session. I believe its normally balathu on his own.

What happens if Rachel doesn't become infected as usual, but gets killed and her corpse infected by the ancient warrior? Will it still be good? Guess I'll soon find out, as it's just happened.

It worked, shortly after being killed and infected by the ancient warrior (balathu) the pair of them hunted Eric and Nick. I passed the keep calms to escape as it seemed too risky that AW would get the kills. Infected Rachel then attacked as usual at the ropes late on

The following steps must occur to unlock this trophy:
  • Both Eric and Rachel need to survive until they reach the star chamber near the end of the game. For Eric this means cutting the rope when you're tethered to Rachel and about to fall off the cliff (if Jason and Nick don't save Merwin, they'll save you before you fall either way), and during the confrontation with Salim, things need to be de-escalated to avoid Eric being shot. There is also a risk of Eric being killed by Balathur when everyone gets split up after the big battle, complete the QTE to save him as Nick.
  • During the big battle with every character, Salim will have the option to attack either the monster leaping at him, or the monster attacking Rachel. Choose the first option, ensuring that Rachel is infected.
  • Finally, Jason and Salim need to inspect the corpse covered in yellow goo while exploring the city.
  • Once you reach the star chamber, a sequence will play out where Rachel will be overcome by the parasite. Deliberately fail the QTE with the knife, and then beg Jason not to shoot her. Salim will suggest putting her in the cocoon; refuse this idea, and Rachel will escape.
  • During the final escape, Rachel will reemerge and attack Jason. Successfully complete all of the QTEs, and Rachel will be knocked off the cliff (by Nick, but that doesn't matter for the trophy).

I had it like this:
1. Clarissa was shot by her comrades.
2. In the “hall of stars,” when Rachel became ill, he dissuaded Jason from shooting her and refused to plunge into the cocoon liquid.
3. Before climbing the rope, Rachel, who had already turned into a creature, jumped out of the waterfall and killed Eric.

I managed without Eric. After the cocoons exploded, Rachel climbed the cable after Jason, he cut the cable, she fell and the prize jumped out.

I received the trophy when Salim and Jason survived. When they were already at the very end, climbing the rope to the top, Jason was attacked by the infected Rachel. Jason cut the rope. After that, the trophy immediately fell out.

I found it interesting (not at all like in the description):
1. Clarice was left alive and she killed Eric, but the prize for this did not come out, because... I didn’t defend her for Eric, but kept silent.
2. Rachel was infected and refused to kill herself and go into the cocoon. Ran away from the group.
3. When they were climbing the rope, Rachel jumped onto the one that Jason was climbing. Then Nick told him: “Cut the rope!” There were no QTEs.
Jason cut the rope, Rachel fell - the prize fell out.

It turns out that Eric's participation in this process is not necessary. In my case, Clarissa was spared and she then killed Eric, and the corresponding trophy dropped. Then Rachel refused to climb into the cocoon and ran away, then, closer to the end, when the team was climbing the ropes, Rachel jumped out of the depths, Jason cut the rope and Rachel flew down and I received this trophy.

Rachel can also be immediately turned into undead in the room with a machine gun and a generator. Just when choosing "shoot" or "run", do nothing and fail the subsequent QTEs, the creature will attack Rachel and kill her, and she will become the same as Joey and appear in the finale, when the team climbs the ropes.

It's possible without Eric.
If Rachel was infected or eaten in the temple, for example, she will appear infected near the waterfall, where the ropes are. If Eric died earlier, and at the end there are 2 people left, they climb the rope, Rachel climbs after them and one automatically cuts the rope. The prize is dropped.
I had Nick and Jason, Salim and Jason. If there are three, then Salim climbs up, and Nick and Jason fight Rachel on the ground. If there are three, I don’t know whether the prize will come out. But maybe she just needs to be killed for the trophy.

I didn’t get the trophy under Nick, Salim and Jason. Salim climbed upstairs, Nick and Jason killed Rachel below, the trophy did not fall, as I said.
You need Nick to go and set up explosives, then put the controller down and watch Nick die. And with Jason and Salim alive, Rachel climbed out and crawled up, and after cutting the rope, the trophy fell.
