How to unlock the Fate Worse Than Death achievement in The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope - Definitive Guide

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD

So I got this achievement by doing this:
So basically early on, John, Andrew, and Angela find a shack. John gets scared and runs off, while Andrew has a heartbeat QTE. You need to pass this and then look under the floor in the bedroom for a box that has a gun inside. Angela will then try to say to get rid of it but you must keep it. I didn't use the gun at any point during the game and still unlocked this achievement. I don't think it matters if you use the gun or not during the game.

I then got everyone killed except Mary and Andrew and it unlocked for me after that. To save Mary, you need to accuse the priest at the end, not her. At least that's how I got that achievement too for saving Mary. I then also got the save Andrew achievement too.
To get people killed, for me I didn't press any of the prompts and just left it when they were fighting the demons. I got Taylor killed early on. Daniel at the factory, Angela at the house and John at the house towards the end.
Hopefully this helps someone! There might be other ways to get this achievement but this was how I got it

Lol, I can't seem to get the points for this achievement on my Xbox profile. Like, I unlocked it. It's unlocked here. It's even unlocked on my Xbox profile. But my profile says 24/30, or 800/1,000 GS.

This can easily be done after finishing your heart only playthrough. Simply reload the last chapter and instead of choosing the heart option choose to blame carver, saving Mary and in turn making it so Andrew doesn't kill himself at the end

My advice is to combine getting this achievement with Coven of Witches (Finish Movie Night) and Instinctive Reaction (chose all of the heart decisions). This makes it pretty straightforward.

I got it this way with the following key notes.
-I failed the heartbeat qte with Andrew at the shed and missed the gun.
-Angela died at the bridge section by following the heart decisions.
-Daniel died in the factory by failing the qte's during the hole in the ground.
-Taylor and John survived till the end.

I managed to get this achievement by accident while attempting the "No Escaping Fate" achievement.

I can safely say YOU CAN STILL HAVE BULLETS left in your gun and still prevent Andrew from killing himself

In this Theatrical Cut playthrough, I did the following:

Picked up the gun in "Off Track" and did not choose to show the gun to Angela
Used 2 Bullets fighting Daniel and Taylor's demons in "Low Point" (the only time I used the gun during this run)

Deliberatly picked the following options to get characters killed in the finale:
In "Reflections" pick Fearful as Taylor when fighting her Demon
In "Ruined" pick Reckless as Daniel when being pulled up by Andrew
In "Heavy Burden" pick Resentful as Angela when deciding to hurry John along
In "Heavy Burden" pick Fearful as John when holding the door

In "Full Circle" I chose to instead burn the poppet

This caused all characters but Andrew to die in the house by the hands of their demons. Andrew proceeded to attempt to shoot himself with his gun but Mary appeared behind him and stopped him from shooting.

The achievement popped after watching the House of Ashes teaser.

NOTE: this playthrough was adapted from my "Salvation" playthrough, meaning I chose many options that I believed would lead to characters surviving the finale. It appears the above choices HEAVILY influence characters surviving or dying, combined with saving/accusing Mary in the finale or burning the poppet. Since I was able to get everyone killed by only choosing the above and burning the poppet. Accusing Mary would lead to the above and allow Andrew to kill himself (no matter how many bullets you had left, according to my testing)

"In "Heavy Burden" pick Fearful as John when holding the door"

John doesn't die when i pick that, from what I gather John can only die at that part if Daniel or Angela or Taylor are still alive

maybe things changed in an update but it seems to me the only way to get this is to get the gun, use all the ammo so Andrew can't kill himself at the end.

I just spent 2 hours picking different stuff trying to get this.

Edit- looks like u gotta get John's bad trait for him to die at that part

Also maybe u can get this by getting Andrew suicide ending but have the police show up for being mean to vince

The description for this originally said "Andrew must be the sole survivor with a weapon," but I just popped the achievement without fulfilling that and the description changed to "Andrew was saved from himself." So I'm not sure if it was a glitch, but looks like possibly they updated the achievement to make it easier. I was aiming for the everyone gets killed at the house achievement but ended up unlocking this one instead, even though Andrew did NOT have a weapon in my run (he picked up the gun in the shack, but then showed it to Angela and she yeeted it into the woods). I restarted my run at the Reflections chapter with the intent to get everyone to the house, but you might be able to let some of them die prior to that by failing QTEs. If Daniel and Taylor make it to the house, the way for them to die there is if you had them be selfish in the earlier scenes where they were being attacked by their demons. For Taylor, when she is yanked away by her demon outside of Joseph's house in the Reflections chapter, when Daniel comes to save her after following the sound, make sure you select the "help me" dialogue option. For Daniel, he falls through the floor in the abandoned factory in Ruined and when Andrew is trying to pull him back up, select the Reckless "I have to get out of here" option. Then once everyone is at the burned house, you can get Angela and John killed outside by just failing all the QTEs as they are being attacked by their demons. After the rest of the crew enters the house and you do the final witch trial scene, Andrew will walk out of the house but - as long as you were selfish with Taylor and Daniel earlier - the door will slam and they will be left behind inside the house to be finished off by their demons. This leaves Andrew alive by himself, and even though he didn't have any weapon in my run, this achievement popped for me after the credits were over. (Also, I accused Mary and got her killed in the final witch trial scene...I haven't figured out yet whether or not she is counted as one of the characters for everyone lives/no one lives related achievements.)

**MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD**

EDIT: Imanaged to get this achievement by killing everyone in the house, and saving Mary by accusing Carver. When the achievement unlocked, the details were "Andrew was saved from himself." Once everyone died, Andrew was sitting on the balcony of the ruined house, and Vince came up to talk with him. I was friendly toward Vince the entire playthrough, so he was cool and left me alone. Not sure if being a dick has him still bring cops or not. After he left, Andrew pulled the gun out and put it to his head, only for Mary to stop him. The achievement popped up after the House of Ashes trailer. The gun also had 2 bullets left.

Early on, John, Andrew, and Angela find a shack with something in it. John gets scared and runs off, while Andrew has a heartbeat QTE. Pass this and look under the floor in the bedroom for a lockbox with a gun. Angela will try to convince Andrew to get rid of it, KEEP IT.
Throughout the game, Andrew will have a couple of situations where he can use the gun: Running into the church and shooting at Vince, shooting one of the demons while saving Daniel and Taylor, shooting Angela when she reunites with the group, and, if Daniel is still alive, you have two chances to shoot at his demon once he falls through the floor in the warehouse. The gun only has 4 bullets, so if you're trying to get everyone killed at the house, make sure to save one.

This should unlock as part of your Heart playthrough, depending on the choices you make. The following needs to happen for this trophy to unlock:

1. When you interact with Vince at the church, things need to end on good terms with him. If you can avoid it, don't shoot your gun, and then either let him into the church, or convince him to go get help.
2. At the ruined house, when you go back in time, don't blame Mary for what's been happening to the town.

Everyone else needs to be dead, either by their own monsters prior to reaching the house, or in the house. This is accomplished by choosing the more selfish options whenever characters are trapped by their own monsters (as in, the opposite choice of whatever unlocks each character's "saved" trophies).

Everything must be done to ensure that Mary is burned. However, you should not take the gun when the opportunity arises.

Nothing like this! I had Mary saved and the gun was with me. I just sat at the end on the porch (everyone except Andrew drove off), a cop came and put me in the car.

If there is a revolver, then Mary must be saved in court. If you start a fire in the court, the trophy will also fall out. The main thing is that Mary is not executed. And everyone except Andrew should be dead

He took the gun, but didn’t tell Angela that he took it. Near the church I shot at Vince, thinking that I was shooting at a monster. In the finale he blamed Mary, she was burned, so the professors and fellow students “ate” in the house. Next, Vince called the cops, they came and took Andrew away. After the credits and the House of Ashes trailer, the trophy dropped.

I completed the game without guides for the best ending - none of the characters died for me and as a result they blamed the priest (The girl is alive). Then he downloaded the last chapter and immediately went to the second floor of the house - he accused the Girl. She was burned. When leaving the house, Andrew remains on the street, and all the remaining heroes are killed by their monsters in the haunted house. After the credits and House of Ashes trailer, a trophy drops.

The trophy drops only after watching all the credits and the trailer for the next game.
Mary was saved, the revolver was with Andrew, everyone died, Mary stopped Andrew from committing suicide.

Can be combined with “All decisions are made according to the call of the heart” ( Curated version )

Key points that were present during the passage (not sure if they affect the final result)

1) Took the gun, but didn’t tell Angela (there was no choice of heart)
2) At Angela’s first meeting with the demon, he chose to save her, but she did not survive, because... There is no option with a heart at this moment when playing as her.
3) When the other participants meet the demons, everything goes like clockwork - they all have to ask for help, thereby dooming themselves to meet the demons in the end and, as a result, die from them.

End Screen: Andrew sits on the porch as a policeman takes him away.
After the credits, 2 trophies appear - “all decisions follow the call of the heart”, “Andrew saved from himself”.

I didn’t really delve into the essence of this part, because... Compared to the previous ones, I liked this one the least, but, as it seems to me, saving yourself from yourself means not putting a bullet in the end and, perhaps, saying goodbye to all your “friends.”

You don’t need to do any of the above dances with a tambourine, just:
1) Find a pistol and shoot through all the cartridges throughout the entire story (4 pieces: near the church, in the forest saving Taylor and 2 times at the factory)
2) Everyone except Andrew must die. (someone must die in a burnt house)
3) Blame Mary or burn the doll at the end.

There should be a scene where Andrew tries to shoot himself on the threshold of the house, but he fails. Or a cop will come and arrest him.

The point of the achievement is for Andrew to survive with a gun in his hands. The rest of the little things like fighting with Vince, the relationships between the characters and so on don’t matter.

It is necessary that all characters except Andrew die in any way. Those who reached the house will definitely die if Mary is convicted. But if Mary is convicted, then Andrew will shoot himself if there is a gun and the police have not arrived.

for Andrew to survive:
- burn the doll or blame the priest

If Mary was accused, then Andrew's death can be avoided if:
- to be arrested, for this Andrew must have a gun, he must shoot Vince in front of the church and talk rudely to him so that he calls the police.
- the gun must run out of bullets
-Andrew didn't take a gun with him
