How to unlock the Instinctive Reaction achievement in The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope - Definitive Guide

Very straight forward. Progress through the game choosing only the heart decisions. If you are new to the anthology. Know that if you do not see a Heart symbol, simply say nothing. When it comes down to quick time decision making and no heart is available, let the timer run out.

New to this game as well, through the start screen. It will notify you the entire time if you have strictly stuck to making Heart or Head decisions. Way easier to keep track of. They unfortunately can be hard to see at times, so this is a HUGE bonus now. ( I got burned early on in Man of Medan because of this, not realizing I missed an opportunity early on in the game, only to find out at the very end when the achievement did not pop up. 5 hours wasted. Pay attention and learn from my mistake!)

Just for info, I start game with choosing HEAD decision and even when I choose heart when there was no Head, game keeps telling I´m sticking with all head decision when available, we will see if this prohibited or not, in first one in guides were written the same as you mentioned here Say nothing or let timer runs out of time, but maybe it´s not necessary at all.

Interesting, yeah if its anything like the first game, due to the autosave being so frequent if you make the wrong decision the whole playthrough is pretty much a waste. This is a new feature to the game, so I don't how reliable it is. However I said nothing/let the time run out when the option I wanted wasn't available.

Hello, I just finished game and can confirm you only need to choose HEAD/HEART option (based on your playthrough) where is one. If you going for heart and choose head because there are 2 heart decisions, this still net you achievement :).

Can you pick up the leftover decisions through Scene Select? In my scene select screen, I see the heart/head icon for almost all chapters, except the first 4-5 chapters or so.

Yes you can use scene select to redo any levels you've made a mistake in. Just scene select from where you first went wrong. Can be used for any achievement hunting.

Edit: answer - just hit the start menu; it will be in the right-hand corner; it will not show until after the house fire tutorial.

I cannot get this to pop. In the chapter select I have hearts all through Troubled History but in Pursued and Surrounded you have selections that ONLY have head options. This results in the last 6 chapters having head/heart selections showing even though I have only chosen heart. I’ve done this now 6 times making sure to never choose a head or choosing a head when forced too but it still won’t pop. What gives?

EDIT: So I decided to back up one chapter and apparently I must have chosen a head or nothing in one of the scenes with the curator. Even though the chapter showed hearts it did not track that I made an other decision in the cut scene thus making it impossible to correct just by replaying the Troubled History chapter.

Detail: Choose any story mode. When a decision is optional to be made, then there is a chance that they involve Heart-based decisions. You can see the corresponding icons for Heart/Head, at 50% of opacity, at the vertical center point of text per decision. Try darkening the gamma's toning or setup HDR's maximum luminance correctly.

Task: The requirement is to always and only make Heart-based decisions whenever they are optional. If there is no Heart-based decision optional, then your choice is irrelevant, and does not impact relative progress. The number of Heart-based decisions can be variable per story play, but it is relevant to make the corresponding decisions if prompts are being triggered. For example, if only Head based decisions are optional on an interaction prompt, then you can/must safely make any of the three decisions.

Xbox Achievement: The relative Xbox Achievement will be unlocked, the scene after the credits roll has initiated. Prefer not to skip credits rolls.

This is much easier to track and much harder to screw up than it was in Man of Medan. You can now track whether you've made Head or Heart choices in the pause menu - so as long as it says you've only made Heart choices by the end of the game, you should unlock the trophy. You can differentiate a Heart choice by the icon of a heart behind the dialogue or action choice. If at any point the pause menu no longer says that you've only made certain types of decisions, you can go to chapter select and it will tell you which chapter had head and heart choices, so you can replay from there.

If you're ever given the option of choosing between two Head options and no Heart options, you're free to choose whatever you want. The game specifies in the pause menu that you've made only Heart options when possible, so that's all that matters. Thanks to ThaMighty for confirming this.

We go through the game by choosing all the answers with a heart icon, if there is no option with a heart, then we select “keep silent”

I’ll add to the hint, if there are no options to remain silent and there are only at the call of reason, feel free to choose, they do not affect the trophy

We are talking about plot decisions, optional dialogues can be skipped, for example, you can walk past a doll in a museum, this will save a little time and nerves.

When choosing chapters, you can track whether you stuck to your heart's choice or not.

There is an easy way to check if the achievement is broken

During the game, the menu says - When choosing, you, as a rule, were guided by your heart . The inscription disappears if you select a brain somewhere

If you make a mistake, go to “Scene Selection” in the main menu. All chapters must have only a heart in the background. If the heart and brain, then the achievement is failed. We need to replay from the chapter where only the heart ceased to be.
