How to unlock the The name of this vessel achievement in The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man Of Medan - Definitive Guide

You have to do three things. First, examine the hat that Danny knocks off for a secret. Second, in the room that has the stuck door, on the right, is a secret Log Book with the other half of the ship's name. Alex stays at the radio and Brad with Julia went down the hole. Find the generator (it looks like a board with a bunch of holes in it next to some levers) and turn it on. Alex says the name of the ship once it goes back to a scene with him, though in Curator mode this may not happen.

The chapters you need for the collectibles are Danny and Distress Signal. The achievement itself unlocks in Distress Signal.

Make sure to turn the page in the Log Book with right stick otherwise you won't unlock the secret that progresses the achievement.

This also happens when you radio for help as Alex. You use "INSTRUCTIVE" response to provide coordinates, and then use the "ANXIOUS" response, Orang Medan when communicating your position.

mine was different than OP. I found the picture that said SS then found the hat and the logbook that said part of the name of the ship. When I was Fliss on the radio she contacted the military and told them we were stuck on a freightliner and gave them the name of the ship and achievement popped before Brad and Julia went in the hole

Chapters: between Danny and Distress Signal.

You need to pick up certain secrets on the same playthrough, that will unlock dialogue options needed for this trophy. Unfortunately, you need to get all of them in the SAME PLAYTHROUGH. If you miss one of them, you need to replay the game from the Danny Chapter.

Chapter: Danny
  • While playing as Fliss, get Secret 41: Medan Hat after the cutscene with Danny hallucinated, pick up the hat after he knock it for the secret.
Chapter: Distress Signal
  • While playing as Alex, get Secret 42: Ship's Logbook after leaving the deck. Continue until you come to a door that can be opened. As you enter, you will find the book at Alex left. Turn the page for the secret.
  • Playing as Alex, use the radio in the next room after Secret 42. Choose INSTRUCTIVE as a dialog option and after that, you will be able to select another option with the name of the ship.

In the chapter where Julia, Fliss and Conrad will communicate with the guards by radio, select “Ship Name” (left option), you need Alex to be killed before this, if this does not happen, he will speak on the radio, not Conrad, and will not say ship name.

Playing as Flis, you first need to pick up the cap that fell from the corpse, and when entering the radio room on the right side, take the ship's log (book) and be sure to flip through it, since the name of the ship is on the next page. I did it only the second time, since I disabled the right panel in the settings and, accordingly, the text was not displayed and there was no option to leaf through the magazine.

It is not necessary for Alex to die, in the “Distress Signal” scene you need to prevent Brad from going down while playing as Alex, then Conrad, Julia and Brad will remain at the top.. and Fliss and Alex will go down.. in the end Conrad names the name of the ship

I think the main thing is to find a cap with the inscription ".... g Medan" (Fliss finds it) and read the logbook on the captain's bridge in front of the radio room (the name of the ship is mentioned in the log, if you turn the page), and who exactly in the cabin radios its meaning does not have. Alex told me and the trophy came out.

Only two points are critically important: in Denny's chapter you need to pick up and examine the cap on the floor; in the chapter Help Signal, as soon as you enter the wheelhouse, there will be a table with a magazine on the right, leaf through it to the left. This is the only way to call a ship on the radio.
