The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me

Below is a guide and all the notes for everything I done during my playthrough of this, some of it took replaying back to a specific point to see what would happen if I chose differently.

Notes:
— The couple at the World’s Fair Hotel scene DO NOT COUNT, this is a scripted death scene.
— The policeman at the Lake scene DOES NOT COUNT, this is a scripted death scene.

The MOST important thing I would say, is to make sure you pass all the HIDE (hold against cover), DON’T BREATHE (press at the heartbeat boxes) and QTE (a combination of or timed button mashing) checks. You’ll encounter plenty of these through the story and it’s best to pass as many as possible, not all of them will have your characters killed, but better to be safe than sorry.

If you mess up, feel free to reload a chapter from scene selection and use NEW SLOT when prompted, so you can keep the botched save as well if you want to have a head start on the “all must die” run.

Choice 1
Scene: BLACKOUT
Character: Erin
— Choose to ACCEPT the INHALER from the Masked Killer in the blacked out room. Whether you choose to use the inhaler or not does not matter, I chose not to.

Choice 2
Scene: SILVER ASH
Character: Erin
— Choose to listen to Jamie’s voice coming from the animatronic and HIDE in the cupboard. Pass all DON’T BREATHE sequences.

Choice 3
Scene: IGNITION
Character: Charlie
— When inside the incinerator, choose to OPEN THE GRATE on TWO checks. The first time will fail, you will then be able to double down on the grate opening and succeed the second time.

Choice 4
Scene: BREATHLESS
Characters: Erin or Kate
— When Kate and Erin get locked in the o2 deprivation rooms, pick to divert all o2 from KATE (left side). In turn, Erin will be saved, but Jamie will notice a hole in the glass from Kate’s window, subsequently breaking it down to save Kate.

* PASS any relevant HIDE, DON’T BREATHE or QTEs in between these chapters.

Choice 5
Scene: DIRECTOR’S SUITE
Characters: Jamie or Kate
— Once you view the blueprint map, you’ll be given the choice of handing the SCREWDRIVER to Kate, or let Jamie keep it. You can choose whatever you’d like here as there’s a way for both outcomes to have both survive the glass trap.
— When Jamie heads out to find the KILLER, pass all QTEs, choose RUN, then choose “Do it! Close it now!”, lastly, pass the final QTE as the wall is closing.
— If you let Jamie keep the screwdriver, DO NOT press the red button as Jamie at the glass trap, it will save Jamie.
— If you gave the screwdriver to Kate, PRESS THE BUTTON as Jamie, Kate will save herself with the screwdriver.
— The important thing here is to remember who has the screwdriver (you’ll get a warning in the glass trap anyway). The person who has it must be the one to be “sacrificed” in order for both characters to survive.

Choice 6
Scene: CHASE
Characters: Kate and Jamie
— You MUST pass all QTEs whilst running away from the KILLER, you can choose to HIDE in the lockers and pass all DON’T BREATHE checks. The killer will find you inside the locker anyway, but passing the following QTEs from there will SAVE Kate.
— At the end of the chase sequence, the killer will catch Jamie, you must SAVE Jamie.
— Following this, the killer will grab hold of Kate, pass the QTE, he will send Kate flying down the scaffolding, but she will brush it off.

Choice 7
Scene: MAZE
Character: Erin
— Once inside the Barn, it doesn’t matter if you barricade the barn door or not, but you must choose to RUN in order to save Erin, Jamie and Kate. Choosing the latter will see Erin meet her demise.

Choice 8
Scene: HOMESTEAD
Character: Jamie
— When you enter the house and find the whimpering dog, tell Kate to HIDE, this will result in her attacking the KILLER when he finds Jamie and the dog. DO NOT stab the DOG when he’s attracting the attention of the killer. Doing so will give them all ample opportunity to escape.

Choice 9
Scene: LIGHTHOUSE
Character: Charlie
— When Erin finds Charlie and Mark by the cliff of the lighthouse, Mark must choose to TRUST Charlie. Doing so will ensure his survival in the following Chapter.

Scene: LAKE
Characters: Charlie, Dog, Erin, Jamie, Kate and Mark
— On the boat, the KILLER will board. Pass QTE as Erin to have her survive.
— The dog will automatically survive if you didn’t kill it in the HOMESTEAD scene.
— Charlie will JUMP out to survive.
— Jamie must JUMP out to survive.
— Kate can SAVE Mark by attacking the KILLER
— Mark must PASS all QTEs and button mashing sequences to survive.
— Kate and Mark must JUMP by passing the QTE after the killer gets sent off the boat.
