How to unlock the Carnie Kid achievement in The Darkness II - Definitive Guide

This can be achieved on the level Fun and Games. There are two sequences of flashbacks while Jackie is at the carnival. Each of them involves a gun gallery game.

The first one is shooting ducks. Bottom row gives the lowest points while the highest gives the most while being harder to hit. Three levels of ducks to hit, I recommend only focusing on the top two rows with the top row taking priority.

The second game is the classic western bar shootout. The closer targets give 50 points, while the ones farther back give 100 points. Just don't shoot the bartender or sheriff as they subtract points. If you don't make it to 1000 on this one, don't worry, just go to the pause menu and select Restart Checkpoint. You can also skip the cinematic then to get straight back to the game.

As far as I'm aware, I only got EXACTLY 1000 points on the second game and the achievement unlocked for me.

for the shootout, before the people start popping in and out of the windows etc. you can shoot the things on the bar for an easy 100 as well

I don't know if it's just me, but I had to do both games on the same run through. First time I did the saloon shoot out first, reloaded the chapter to do the duck hunt and it didn't pop. Also, when the buzzer goes restart checkpoint immediately for both games or you will lose the checkpoint

Does anybody know if this can be obtained in new game + mode or chapter select? I am way past the duck shooting portion and didn't realize this achievement was out there.

Fuck this achievement. Made by dickheads that want you to hate their game.

Yo guys, I know it's been over ten years and all but... If anyone's trying to pull this off, on the second game you can also shoot the bottles in the bar and the paintings and horns in the second floor wall to increase your score. Those appear to be worth 25 and 50 points respectively, but it's some free score to get between rounds, and especially as soon as the game starts. It also helps because sometimes enemies will pop up behind those bottles in the bar and you may end up shooting one by accident (which is how I found out about this).

Glycerin's solution is fine. Just wanted to add some helpful tips. I'll bold what wasn't mentioned in his solution.

For both the minigames, You'll need to score over 1000 to gain this achievement. If you fail on either one, you can choose "Restart from Checkpoint" and the press B then A to skip through the cutscene.
Your score will show to the bottom left in a small counter on the carnival booth.

For both games I found it immensely easier to not scope in and just aim with the white reticules

First off the duck minigame. Found in the Fun and Games level right after crawling under the boardwalk to gain entrance to the carnival.

- Prioritize the Ducks on the very top row
- Work on the Ducks on the second row when none are on the top row
- Ignore the bottom row of Ducks.

That one shouldn't really cause you too much trouble. The next one though can prove a bit more challenging, and I was getting quite frustrated with it, until I discovered something immensely helpful. It is found in the following level after a small firefight.

You need to shoot the Bandits, while avoiding shooting the Sheriffs & Bartenders. The larger, closer bandits are worth 50 points, while the farther away ones in the door frame are worth 100 points.

- Right as you start you might notice there are 4 bottles on the bar counter, shoot those for a nice bonus of 100 points to start off with.
- Next there will be two waves with bandits in the front, take those out, following that the third wave won't contain any bandits, just a bartender or sheriff... take this opportunity to shoot the Bull Horns (worth 25pts) located in the middle of the top floor with the doors. At this point you should be a 225 points and only 3 waves in.

- After this focus mainly on shooting the Bandits in the doorway and only shoot the closer ones if you have time.

It took me no time at all to get this after I discovered the Bottles and Bull Horns. Best of luck everyone!

Micheal from achievementhunters.com is here to show how to get the "Carnie Kid" achievement and for a extra bonus the "That's Why I'm the Boss" achievement as well.

If you mess up reload last checkpoint or if miss this during your first play through just use your "chapter select" option.

(this video belongs to achievementhunters.com)
(before you "thumbs down" my solution let know how to fix it)

At the carnival, Jenny, on two different rides, will ask you to knock out a blue bear for her in order to immerse you in some “scary” secrets. The first time you will have to shoot at the ducks (I advise you not to miss the top yellow ones, for each of the ones that are hit you get a hundred points), the second time either bandits or sheriffs will stick out - we shoot without missing the ducks and bandits, and the trophy is yours.

There are only eight yellow ducks in the first tier. We still need to knock out four from the middle row, except for all the yellow ones on top.

The cowboys have a little time before the test begins. You can get some points by breaking all the bottles on the counter and the paintings on the second floor. I usually didn’t have enough of them to pass - I got 800-900 points.
