In each of the main six cases, there will be a trashy magazine/book/poster you will need to look at. You will know you've looked at the right item because a picture will pop up showing you more detail of the item.
Case 1: the magazines on the bottom shelf of the bookcase in the study
Case 2: the calendar in the library office
Case 3: the Daily Chronicle newspaper stand in the Darkside, outside of the costume shop
Case 4: the book in the builder's hand at the construction site outside of the police station garage
Case 5: under the top right pillow in the dorms section of the rec room
Case 6: the trash can in Chinatown. You will need to look at the trash can twice.
