Lockpicking

For the lockpick element of this first hit the ` button to open the console command screen and type the following

advskill lockpicking 100000

This will level your lockpicking to 100. You can then go into your skill tree using / (by default) and put points into all the lockpicking skill tree. Not entirely essential because you will only be using a level 1 novice lock but you can do this if you wish.

Next go back to the console commands and type

player.additem a 1000

This will give you 1000 lockpicks.

Next, still in console commands, type

coc haltedstreamcampexterior01

From where you spawn walk forward and open up the console command and type

killall

unless you want to fight everyone. As you walk into the camp look to your left and you will see a small set of stairs. Under these is a chest. Go over to the chest and open the console command with the chest visible and with the option to press "E" to unlock on the screen. Right click on the chest with the console command screen open and you should see (000a40a9) appear. Unless you want to tackle the apprentice level lock the chest has, type the following in the console command box

unlock

You then need to close the console command box and look away briefly and then when you look back it will now be unlocked. Doing this will NOT count towards your total yet.

Now do the same again whilst looking at the chest, console command -> right click -> (000a40a9) appears, but this time type

lock 1

The 1 is the difficulty of the lock up to a maximum of 100 so always type 1 if you want this to be easy. Close the console command, look away and then back again and you now have a novice level lock to pick. Pick this lock and you will NOW start to get progress. Repeat the above lock and pick sequence in the final 2 steps 50 times and you are done.

Progress can be checked under general stats (esc key to access) and then under "crime" on the left menu.

Any chest or door should work but this is just an easy one to quickly spawn to.

Pickpocketing

For the pickpocket part again max out the pickpocket skill using the console command

advskill pickpocket 100000

Next go into the skill tree using / and put points into the pickpocket skill tree being sure to take all 5 of "Light Fingers" as well as "Night Thief", "Cutpurse" and "Keymaster" perks.

Next got to console commands and type

player.additem 00e94d4 1

This should give you an "Abandoned Prison Key". Next use console command

coc whiterunorigin

From where you spawn walk straight down the road until you come to some market stalls. There are two vendors who dont move and play nice to be pickpocketed. You can use anyone nut I just like using these two. If they are not there use the console command

set gamehour to 1500

When they are there go to one, hit ctrl to sneak, then E to pickpocket. Then go to your player name on the left menu and you should see the Abandoned Prison Key at the top. Press R to give this to the vendor and place it in their pocket. Then hit E to pickpocket him/her again but this time take it back from their inventory. Rinse and repeat until you have the achievement or get caught. If you get caught you can persuade the guards to let you go or just pay the bounty. You are using the key because of the "Keymaster" perk we took earlier which should in theory give you a higher success rate. Again progress can be tracked in crime section of general stats but remember it is pockets picked, not items pickpocketed that count.

To raise speech to persuade guards use

advskill speechcraft 100000

and to add money for bounties use

player.additem f 999999

This achievement can be obtained early in the game. You just need to unlock 50 doors or chests and pick 50 pockets.

Make sure you're always hidden when attempting to lockpick/pickpocket.

You can always save the game behind a NPC (or next to a locked door/chest) before trying to steal something. If caught, reload the save and try again. (This does not work if the item has a 0% chance of being stolen)

A tip to speed up the process is waiting for the night then try to enter the house of the residents and save before each attempt to pickpocket.

If like me you have a thief build, be sure to spend some points in the thief tree. Points in the sneak tree are welcome too.

Select the thief standing stone for that extra help.

Remember that the more expensive the item to be stolen is, more XP you will earn. So always try to steal expensive items. If caught load your previous save.

For the Pickpocketing part make sure you only take one item at a time, and Quicksave after each successful attempt. If you take everything the person has at the same time it only counts as one pocket, but if you back out, save and then go back in it'll count that as a new pocket picked. I got my 50 pockets with only three or four people, the best thing to do is fast travel to a town, wait till night and get them while they sleep.

Hit Tide (`) when standing infront of a door.
Right click on the door so it's selected. Type 'Lock' and hit enter.
The door is now locked.
Pick the lock. Repeat 50 times.
Use 'advskill pickpocket 1000000' and 'advskill lockpicking 1000000' as well to make this easier.

As for the pickpocketing stat, it only counts when you take an item (or add an item). So, take an item from a pocket. Back out of pickpocketing, then put the item back through pickpocketing.
Repeat 50 times.

Pickpocket was the hardest one for me but I found an easy solution and that is to get arrested in riften break out kill the three guards in jail and collect your belongings and in the cell across from yours is a black-brier give him all your stuff except your gold because you will have a big chance to never get that back and just keep taking all your stuff back off him I got the achievement after doing this for about 2 minutes

You only need to do one of each.
