How to unlock the Taking Sides achievement in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition - Definitive Guide

After completing the prolouge you are able to make a choice.

Join the Stormcloaks - For this option your going to want to go to Windhelm and speak to Ulfric Stormcloak located in his keep.

Join the Imperial Army - For this option head over to Solitude and Speak to Rikke in the castle.

Both are intresting questlines and will net you all the achievements related with the civil war.

Strangely, this only just popped for me, seconds before i got the 'War Hero' achievement at Fort Greenwall.

The achievement pops when the first quest is completed. This should be in the guide

Finally have the achievement just had to reload an old save then it popped weird but ok.

I already finished the civil war questline and this achievement didn't pop.

To receive the necessary quest to join the Stormcloaks, you need to get to Windhelm and talk to Ulfric. To join the legion, go to Solitude and talk to General Tullius.

Also, quests with the capture of locations for BB/Imperials will allow you to easily upgrade your vampire/werewolf skills.
